Opinions Wanted: LT Handles (all black) w/Glossy Pillars and Black Plastic Mirrors

Okay, I'm opening the flood gates asking for opinions but, I may opt to just remove and snub the thread... LOL!

Here's the scenario...

I want to get LT handles and paint the CHROME handle portion of the assembly. Hence, shiny black handles.

Also, I want to add black shiny B-pillars (like HotLap's) as I think it really adds a nice look...

With that in mind, I'll have 'shiny shiny shiny' and a matte black plastic mirror assembly.

I know the obvious answer is to paint the mirrors but, at this point in time, I don't think I'm ready to rip them off and take them to a shop for painting (that and I simply don't have the time).

So, shiny everything and matte black plastic mirrors. Will it look weird?

TIA guys.

going all gloss is gonna look sweet on your KR- but i may agree that the mirrors could look out of place amidst the gloss. BUT, i think that you could slip by too because the az beige is a lighter tone, and could let the matte black mirrors work....but only for a while, then you've gotta go black.

jmo- good luck

Justin

Thanks Balog, I appreciate your insight. Like you mentioned, I'm a bit hesitant to just leave the plastic mirrors hanging out there...

I'm going to swing by and try to get a few quotes to paint the mirrors tomorrow if I have time. We'll see how it turns out.

Thanks again.

in all honesty i think it will be just fine. mine has the glossy pillars and matte mirrors stock, as do all the 04s. have you ever looked and at an 04 and said, "gosh, the mirrors dont match the pillars!!" i doubt you have, which means nobody else will on your truck. go for it

I kinda like the matte A-pillars on an '05. That said, I too don't think the glossy pillars would look out of place with the unpainted mirrors.

That's a good point too... I wonder how much it'll really 'jump out' to anyone other than me.

I'm more thinking that I'd like to see it that way regardless though. My plan is to get some painting quotes in the very near future...maybe tomorrow. Thanks for your insight Sound......

Glossy pillars and handles though... hence just leaving the massively large sideview mirror in black plastic...

I mean, the 'dull looking' window seals will offset it a bit but, maybe not enough.

I definitely see this as more of a problem on a 'blue' or 'green' or 'red' truck more so than my black truck but, I'll never deny being a perfectionist when it comes to my truck.

My wife said I just wanted more area on my truck to polish/wax. I grined and couldn't disagree.

the other thing you need to ask yourself, is it worth spending all that cash on the pillars?? the only time i even look at another guys pillars is to see if its an 04 or an 05, haha its an expensive mod that only about 1/10th of a percent of people will notice. it also is an easy way for people "in the know" to see that you have an 05. also, youll get finger smudges ALL over the glossy pillars!! i think the glossy ones look better, but thats a lot of cash to burn for a low impact mod. IMO

Wow... you really sound like my wife there. LOL! Actually, she said nearly the same thing... something along the lines of "...is that really worth $150+ to you?..."

Hell, I hadn't thought of it...on an '04, the glossy pillars are offset somewhat by the unpainted door handles as well...

The mirrors may stick out like a sore thumb in that case.

Honestly, I wish the mirrors were a glassy painted finish from factory.

I wish Ford offered a complete monochrome package from the factory. Front and rear bumpers, handles, mirrors. I think it'd look a lot cleaner, especially on darker colored trucks.

Glossy mirrors would be nice. Let us know what the bid is. I don't think it would look bad either way though.

I agree with the others EXCEPT for the fact that even if NOBODY notices that the mirrors arent shiny like the rest, YOu will notice. And you must determine if this is going to bug you to death or not.
I know myself, even for little things that nobody would ever notice...it can keep me up all night long until I do something about it. So ask yourself, will it annoy the crap outta you for not painting them along with the rest?
