I think the biggest difference is that the Bows for the RT are attached to the cover so they roll up with it. The other, you roll up then have to take the bows out and store them somewhere.

So the Extang RT is a good cover? Any issues with the cold shrinkage and not being able to close it completely in the summers because of that? Also, any leakage at front/rear of the bed with the Extang RT?

I'm not sure which other cover you are comparing it to but Extang RT is totally flat and it rolls up in less than 30 seconds if I do it alone and take my time. Unrolling ittakes about an extra 5 seconds if you make sure the sides are tight. I do occasionally haul stuff in the bed that would make a hard cover impractical for me. It does not bow up at all, I cant stand the looks of a bowed cover. I dont have any pictures in my gallery but I know Red Wing Nut has some in his. Others do too, I just cant remember all of their names.

I live in Texas and I haven't had any trouble with not being able to put it on and it definately gets hot here. It's been up to about 100 a couple of times this year and no problems. When you unroll it, it locks down in the back. You dont have to try and pull it tight like the snap on covers so I dont think that taking it off and then putting it back on in the heat or cold is as much of an issue w/ this soft cover vs the snap covers.

I think I have decided on the RT folks - thank you all very much for your input.

Now to decide on a liner (Bedrug...Line-x...Bedrug...Line-x). Oy...

I had the Extang Saber on my Dodge. Snapless design with the J seal (jeep top design) connection. Liked it lots, but sucked when it needed to be installed in the winter as it shrunk and required unhuman strength and patience to get on the truck. Other than that, I LOVED it.

Now I have the RT. No problem with installation despite the weather. Very low profile. Uses Velcro on the side rails. I do like it. I like the way the saber looked a bit better. Wish they could combine the two.

I think you will be happy with the RT. One bit of advice: when you unroll it, be careful at the end. Don't slam it into the locking device. I accidentally did that and bent the channel the locking device clicks in to. I was unable to lock it down for a day or so until I realized what I did. A pair of pliers to the channel corrected the situation. Since then, I've had no problems or issues.

I have had the extang RT on two different trucks and I love it. It also has a lifetime warranty against defects. It is very low profile and great for the money.
