hid lamps are D2R it is for reflector type headlamp no D2S !!! ... respect to glare it is a optic efect on the camera... you can see the diference if look the picture with description of each lamp, I take with flash (see licence??) this is more real image!!! the other pictures dont have a flash,

We know the difference between the two bulbs and that you have D2R bulbs in there. How about a picture with the HID bulbs shinning on a flat wall from about 20 feet. Then we can better accurately determine glare and the cutoff? Many thanks and great job so far! If we get a pic of the lights shinning directly onto a wall, we can determine how bad the glare is for oncoming drivers.

Good pic....but how about one with just a flat wall thats a little closer to the truck. On the pic shining on the jeep it almost looks like some bad glare on the top above the window on the house. Have you been using the HIDs on the road? Have people been flashing you because of them? The other headlamp is a silverstar right?

I bet it's a neat trick pulling the Jeep between the two cacti.

I didn't even notice that!

The new pictures don't look too bad. Almost nearing the point where it's worth the try to avoid having to do a labor intensive retro fit. Then again Torresu you've lost the use of high beams right? Still worried about the glare above the window on your house. Pictures of the light shinging directly onto a flat wall would help resolve that though.

Taking pictures of headlights head-on is very hard. It always looks to have more glare than it may really have. The best alternative is to take a picture of the beam pattern on a flat surface against a smooth wall WITHOUT and obstructions at 25 feet. This way we can tell you whether there is alot of glare or not.
Its my feeling that since the stock HALOGEN reflectors output 2 blobs as its main beam, all a HID capsule in there is going to do is intensify them with additional glare. Prove me wrong by posting pics of the above.

What you would want is a sharp cutoff with a wide even spread of light producing the most usable output and most amount of light on the road and not in peoples faces:

Thumbs up

Torresu,

Thank you for spending the time to post the pics. I for one may go ahead and take the dive as I have all of the parts to do exactly wjhat you did, I was just concerned that the glare would be to great....

Judging from what I can see, the glare is there but not nearly as bad as I thought it may be. What can I say, I have been going throgh HID withdrawl since I bought this truck as there have been no reasonably priced quality kits that have come to market yet...

HIDPLANET, as I have come to appreciate your posts regarding HID, please weigh in on the latest photos posted by tossesu if you could.

Again, thanks for your time on the pics!

They certainly look different with the 'up close' pics. I'd have to say that I'm impressed with the light cut off.

Were there any issues getting the D2R bulb into the stock headlight. Did you have to do any tab trimming or anything like that?

Where did you mount ballast?

Did you use a kit? Where form?

Do you regred not having high beams anymore or are standard beam HID's better in your observations?

Thanks
