call me dumb but I didn't think they were offering the new f150's with a v6. I remember when I ordered mine the 4.6 and the 5.4 were the only options. I just figured they had eliminated that engene because it wasn't strong enough to push the newer heavier f150's arround. these trucks are heavier than the previous model years. so I definitely don't recomend getting anything heavier than a regular cab 2wd with a v-6. also a 5 speed tranny would definitely help ya too. also don't expect good gas milage. these heavy trucks really suck alot of gas.

you go buy it, and be happy

No matter what the engine, you will be so thrilled with your F-150... trust me, it turned me from a Honda-fanatic to a Ford lover.

Besides, ever see those big, big International trucks? They're all running V6's.

You'll have less weight, and some have said the V6 moves better than the small V8 - less weight to pull around.

Go for it man, and have fun!

Now if you showed up in a V6 Silverado... then we'd have to take some liberties

Exactly!! Nothing wrong with a Ford V6

SoundPer4mance, no, I have seen red and black XL's for sale around here.

jasonkola, no it was trans related, or the fact they didn't want to sell V6 trucks anymore. Now they are back for 05.

I've got a '95 F150 V6 4x2 with a five speed...has 117,500 miles on it. It is a lot of fun to drive...plenty of torque. Anyway, buy what you can afford...this one is getting traded next week. The V6 is a good engine.

I followed the same policy that ChrisAdams did. I got an '05 White STX with no options, and even though it wasnt the truck I wanted (it still isn't), I am working on it. I can add the same things a dealer adds for much less. I did my first official mod yesterday, and I think it looks great so far, and the next thing will be the audio system followed by the step (nerf) bars, and then a lift (complete with wheels, tires, and exhaust). It should be pretty sweet within a few months, and I will post pics as I move along the way. I'm gradually making it "my" truck, and I think you would not only be smart to do the same thing, but you'd be making a fiscally responsible decision. Good luck!

the 4.2 has plenty of power for these trucks. trust me, my 01 is a fully loaded supercab, and has no problems, 205 hp is nothing to laugh at ive had over a ton in the bed and towed plenty. and the 4.6 isnt really going to be much quicker. the only advantage is the increased torque and v8 sound, but a 4.2 5 speed will be quicker than a 4.6 auto trust me

like i said try and get the 5 spd if u can, they are fun as hell to drive. also get the 3.55 rearend if u can. the 3.08's are kinda slow

You are looking at an XL regular cab. Better get it quick. You cant get anymore 05 units, and the leasing companys are snatching them up quick.

Suncoast Ford, My truck originally came from your dealer. It says so on the sticker. Then it was sent to Auto way ford in st. pete, and Freedom ended up brining it to clearwater for me.

Todd, if you can truly afford it, get it. Who cares what any of us think? As long as you are happy and can afford the payment, do it. Remember though, the quikest way to hate a car/truck is finding out later you can't afford it and are stuck with a payment for a long time. So, again, take your time and make sure it is in your budget. Also, check the insrurance rates before you get it.
