Chrome or Painted Bumpers

I'm restoring that salvage F150 XLT. Do you guys think it would look better with Chrome or Painted bumpers? Check out the truck pics album at

I always prefer the monochrome look with painted bumpers. It is one of the reasons I opted for the FX4.

The paint/chrome combo on the xlt's & lariats are sweet. monochrome may look nice, but not after a year... paint chip city!

You'll love the way painted bumpers look - as long as you never drive the truck. Everybody I know with painted bumpers (Lariat & FX4 packages) has stone chips up the wazoo. It seems that anything bigger than a mosquito hitting your truck at greater than 20 MPH leaves a mark. Chrome plating is much harder and thus more damage resistant. By the way, in case you're wondering, you cannot paint over chrome either.

It depends on the final look you are going for. The painted is more of a sport look, and the chrome is more of a classic look. Both look good IMO, just depends on your taste. Look at pics and decide which one you like better.

I don't know, but I have my FX4 since Jan, 04 and have put 54000 miles on it already and I don't notice and chips in the bumper. Maybe it is me, but it still looks great.

chrome, although the painted sport look is nice but not as durable.

I'll be a minority... painted.

I just think it looks better on any vehicle...

its got to be a total thing. Chrome means chrome bumper, handles etc. Painyed should also have matching painted handles, wiper cowl, etc.

I like chrome but my new truck came with painted as I selected the two-tone paint, looks really good though. I noticed you have a chrome rear so you might as well go with a chrome front.

Thats quite the project you are undertaking there, might as well say you are building it from scratch
