Audiphile Sub/Amp Question
Audiophile Sub/Amp Question
Hey guys,
I just sold a customer of mine a 2005 Navigator tonight (which is a sweet ride BTW), and when I delivered the vehicle to his house, I noticed that he had the Audiophile amp/sub box combo sitting on top of a cabinet in his garage. He told me he removed it from his 2004 F-150 Lariat with the Audiophile system in favor of an aftermarket setup. So I asked him about it..
Here's the kicker, he said I could have it. So, my question is this, does my truck (2005 STX Supercab) have the plug under the seat for the sub/amp, and if I just "plug it in" will it work? I have the AM/FM/CD6/MP3 non-Audiophile deck in my truck, so if it will work I want to call him back and tell him I will take it. Can someone more experienced than myself please research this and let me know? Thanks a million....

I really doubt your stx has the wiring for the audiophile.
If you do, it will be under the back seat, drivers side towards the back, under the vinyl mat. You can still install this, might just need to acquire a harness.

I'm pretty sure you have to have the Audiophile system to have the output for the sub. Maybe you could find one on ebay or maybe from one of the guys on this site who's swapped out the Audiophile unit for an aftermarket unit. Mine sounds pretty good for a factory system, much better than the Bose system in my wife's G35.
In my lurking of the forums here for quite some time; it seems that in trucks not equiped with the system from the factory, that some have the harness, some don't. There's no rhyme or reason to it that I recall. If you have the harness, I believe it's a simple plug and play type of deal. You may have to find the other end of the harness that's tucked away in the dash unused somewhere. You will need the audiophile head unit to use it though.
Do a little searching, and you may confirm/disprove/supplement this as I never really paid attention to the posts regarding it.
