Question Probably a stupid question.

Ok guys, Got another question, My compass in my truck is reading opposite of what direction I am going, I have not had the time to take in to be looked at yet, But what is wierd is that it did not start doing this until after I had my windows and the top of the windshield tinted, The strip across the top comes down just to where the bottom of where it says F 150. I may be wrong and just did not notice that it was reading 180. off untill after I picked the truck up from the tint company, anyone have any ideas as to what or why this could be happening. Or should I just take it in to have the dealer look at it.

Have you tried to recalibrate it. There is a procedure in the owners manual on how to do this.

Your zone/calibration must have accidentally been reset when you had your windows tinted. Look in you owner’s guide for instructions how to reset the zone/calibration, it’s a simple procedure.

Ain't no such thing as stupid questions. I agree with the others though, your compass may have been knocked out of calibration somehow.

just a quick thought; if it is off by 180°, perhaps the plug is backwards. If the actual sensor was unplugged to do the tint; if they plugged it in backwards, that would explain the 180° difference; I'd imagine it puts out a variable voltage due to bearing; switch the polarity by having the wires backwards, the heading could flip backwards.

I have no knowledge of where the sensor actually is, how it's wired, how the voltage is regulated, etc., so it's just a thought. But, my electronics tinkering tells me when I see a backwards output from a sensor, I think of polarities being reversed in the wiring.

I haven't looked at mine, but I think the plug is keyed to fit only one way. But I've seen things that only go one way go the other way before. It's amazing what ignorance and force will do, ask me how I know...
