Uhh...

Can you remove that piece? I don't think it's supposed to be there... mine was one piece.

haha, if it sounds like what i think it is, af1 decided to "steal" aems design, losers.

AEM > AF1

Edit: It actually looks like a mold or something along those lines...

Yours and mine does not have this sleeve RP.
If I am not mistaken this was added to "clean up" the tube where the mass
air flow sensor per say seats. If you remember, on mine the hole was over sized in the tube itself and this was creating an effect on the air flow.
I am sure once Mike reads this that he will give a more definative answer.

Mine has the liner but it doesn't move! ... ?

I would have noticed movement as it got handeled a lot while carefully removing the matching ding on the filter side of the tube.

Anyway all seems to work just fine ... so far ...

Gotcha. I didn't think I would've missed this but, god knows I've missed bigger things in my life on more than one occasion...

So, what I'm hearing is that some have this and some don't? I'm assuming it's the 'newer' ones that have this?

RP,

Mine has the inner "sleeve" also. I had to dremel one corner which was slightly protruding into the airflow sensor port. The sleeve goes from the throttle body end up to the beginning of the bend and is drilled out for the crankcase vent and the airflow sensor. Also UPS dinged both ends of my pipe and broke one of the nylon screws off. I straightened out the dings with my trusty ball pein hammer. Those UPS clowns could tear up an anvil with rubber mallet!

^if they packed it right, then it shouldn't have been damaged. Seems like AF1 is in a rush to get these out and is skimping on quality control (dented tubes, moveable sleeves, etc.). You shouldn't have to buy something (especially a $300 intake tube) and then have to take your dremel out to fix it.

The nature of my edge dings ... indicate the damage was prior to packing.
