just ignore asinatra. he or she always posts negetive comments. I myself will be glad to see any data you provide us with. oh by the way when you first posted you said you were going to be testing the AF1. did the AF1 not work for you or did you change your mind on which intake to get?

Can't wait to hear your results - especially since your mods are basically what I'm looking to do with my '05 5.4L Screw. I already have the Magnaflow SIDO (rear bumper exit) installed and my AF1 is coming.

Thanks for schooling us on your dyno runs.....I've wanted to see what this 5.4L dyno's at ever since I got the truck

After seeing some questionable posts on the AF1, and after looking at the install pictures of both the AF1 and Airraid, I decided to change my order to the Airraid. I'm sure both units are just fine though.

Tun2One,

I know I am looking forward to see what the results are.. I am interested in seeing if they are as good as some have claimed.. I have also second guessed myself with the AF1, has I have a early build 2004 (9/03). Good luck and I hope you can make a run on Thursday.

Sounds plausible to me. Heck, here in Houston, I wouldn't have a choice on the high humidity option

Eagerly waiting for the results tomorrow. I appreciate you taking the time to post them up here!

I am also going to get my truck dyno'd here in about 2 hours. I'm going to have my buddy email me the results and then i'll post them asap. I'll be running it stock, and then tuned with 87oct.

Vegas, where are you going to get dyno'd? I was looking at Silver State Motorsports out at the speedway.

I look foward to seeing your numbers! Also, what are you paying for the dyno?

OK - I have the summary of results from the dyno. I will get all of the charts tomorrow in e-mail and post.

First of all, the maximum horespower cannot be obtained on the stock tune due to the rev limiter and the speed limiter. When the truck is in third gear maxing out on speed (around 100 mph and 4200 rpm) the max HP was 197 (still climbing) and max torque was 259 at 3980 rpm - so max torque was achieved and dropping after that. We then kept the truck in second gear to obtain higher rpm readings. Prior to the rev limiter kicking in, the max HP was 228 and climbing. So we don't know how far it would have climbed without the rev limiter.

The final run was with the Airraid and 91 high performance tune. Max horsepower was 230 at 4280 rpm and max torque was 312 at 3200 rpm.
Maximum speed on this run was 135 mph and maximum rpm was 5200 rpm. So the tune did take away both rev and speed limiters.

The Hp chart showed a flattening from 4300 to 5200. This was perplexing. In fact, I'm sure the stock tune would have obtained a higher HP max than the tune max, if the engine was allowed to go higher. We are talking about a max of 228 on stock (and still climbing) to a max of 230 with tune. The tune, in our minds, should have increased HP far after the max at 4280, but it didn't. I will have to talk to Mike about this when I send him the results. The good news is that there is tremendous increase in HP and Torque from the tune between 3300 rpm and 4200 rpm.

For instance, at 3400 rpm, the factory tune was at 145 HP vs 200 HP with the tune. 55HP increase at 3400 rpm!!! Factory torque was 230 vs 310 with tune at 3400 rpm. At 3800 rpm factory HP was 185 torque 260 and with tune 218 HP torque 305.

These are incredible differences. The differences did, however, become less apparent with increasing rpm (as told above).

There was very little difference between the Troyer 87 tune and the 91 Troyer tune. In fact, the dyno man (Chris) thought the 87 tune was slightly better overall than the 91 Troyer tune. Again, the graphs will be posted tomorrow and I cannot explain details.
Also, there was no difference (except for sweet sound) in HP and Torque when the Airraid was installed. He did say that I should disconnect the battery to reset the computer and re-test after 150 miles to be fair to the Airraid. What the Airraid did due is increase the air/fuel from around 12 or so to 13, which will help with gas mileage and overall performance. The air/fuel graphs will be posted also. The air/fuel charts were very stable and looked good for all runs.

So basically, tremendous gains from the tunes at lower rpm's and no gain (possibly a loss) of max HP. But I think the flat curve (as you will see) can be addressed by Mike and more HP can be obtained with an update.

See you in the morning.

Well, that’s not good news there

thats ok by me. thats horspower and especially alot of torque gained when we need it the most. my truck rarely sees 5000 rpm. I think only 2 or 3 times sence I bought it. I think if I was raceing at the race track that might matter but then if I was doing that I think I would get a supercharger not a air intake. can't wait to see the graphs.

Can't wait to see the additional info and also the dyno runs from our friend in Vegas. But even though it looks like there is not much of a HP gain at high rpm's, it is real encouraging to see a 38% increase in HP at 3400rpm and a 35% increase in torque.

I already have a tuner from Troyer and have a SI/DO exhaust setup. The AF1 intake system is on order from Troyer as well, hope to have it any day. What I am looking for from these mod's is an increase in performance at the lower rpm bands and it seems that this is exactly what we are seeing.

I totally agree the lower rpm band hp & torque gains are huge. I’m just confused as to why no top end numbers? You would think one would compliment the other

I think I remember in one of mikes threads he said the stock intake was already pretty good at the high rpms and the new intakes made little differance at those rpms. I am not sure about the tune makeing a differance at those rpms.
