mellow exhaust?

What's the the most mellow cat back exhaust out there for our trucks? I have a 05 stx with the 4.6L. I just want a single pipe exiting out the stock location. I'd like something very mellow but still have some gains with it. Any suggestions?

Thanks
Travis

I have the 5.4 3V and the Gibson 3" SI/SO. It is only barely louder than stock but sounds much better. I am very satisfied with it, I get about 1.5 MPG better than stock. Go with a full stainless steel system no matter who you go with.

Thanks for the quick replies guys. I'd heard the gibsom was quiet, just wanted to make sure. Looks like I'll probably go with that one. I had a magnaflow on my previous truck and wanted to try something different. Is the gibson straight through like the magnaflow?

Thanks
Travis

I'll confirm that Gibson systems are quiet (just slightly louder than OEM on my '97 5.4 and much quieter than the Magnaflow on my current '04). Gibson claims a 'chambered' construction...I assume that's synonymous with 'baffled'. Go with SS...my '97 system rusted out in 3 years.

How do you like your current magnaflow? Notice any gains? Is it ALOT louder than your old gibson? I'm just reading through old threads and it seems like magnaflow is the best for performance and gas mileage increases.

Thanks
Travis

Magnaflow is the way to go. Mellow while cruising yet roars when stepped on.

I have to admit... I really like the Corsa's looks over Magnaflow (and I own a Magnaflow)... I haven't heard one though...

Another vote for Gibson. My fiance purchased that set up for me for Xmas as I wanted the duels and a slightly louder sound, but nothing that would scare the horses while I was using the truck to haul the trailer. It has a nice sound when you fire the truck up and really get on it. Quick, easy install and looks awesome.

I have a friend with a Gibson on their Expy. It is very quiet at idle and cruising speeds.

ive got the gibson sido($399) on mine. It is barely louder than stock when you crank up, but when you get on it, you know its back there....but still no flowmaster or other louder type exhausts. I just wanted something that was nice and mellow as well.

btw...my exhaust hangers had to be modified because of the lowered truck..the kits are for stock. thats also why my exhaust hangs lower, right below the leaf springs in my pic. I had them bent up at my local shop to be level with body. just havent had the time to get any more pics on here. :santa:
