Ghosts in the Machine

I'll see what you all think of this one. Several weeks ago my truck (04 SuperKrew 4x4 Lariat) developed two problems. First the radio would not shut off when the door opened. When I went to look at the Message Center I got a Data Error message under the menu items for Auto Lamps and Power Delay. Took the truck into the dealer. The tech was puzzled for two days. Tried replacing a relay behind the rear seat. NO FIX. More head scratching for two more days. Tried a few PCM reboots. NO FIX. Finally replaced the entire instrument cluster after one week. FIXED.

A few days latter noticed the A/C was not turning on even though outside temp was 85+. Back to dealer. Diagnostic computer says on-board computer not receiving any signal to activate the A/C. More PCM re boots and replaced a computer module. NO FIX. They are now stumped and have contacted the Ford Hotline for help. What say the F150Forum Faithful?

I say they yank & replace the ETAC in the dash... makes sense since the PCM said it never got the signal to turn it on.. .and since the PCM was replaced, then the ETAC should be next...

Exorcism Complete

For Information only (if it happens to you):

Problem turned out to be a corroded wire splice connected to the Body Control Module. Once splice was repaired, problem fixed. If goofy things happen ... consider body control module.

P.S. I didn't need the gasoline after all.

BCM Location

The dealer work order indicates the rear seat is removed to access the BCM. From speaking with the service tech, I believe it's the back of the rear seat up against the cab wall that is removed.
