Question Sunroof problem!

Well my sunroof was making a funny clunking type sound when i would open it up. I took it to the dealer and they ended up replacing the rubber (?) trim around the sunroof as mine had dried up and turned brittle! My truck just turned 1 year old this month and i find it a little disturbing that the sunroof trim would dry up and disigrate within 1 year.
Did anyone else have this problem or could it be a problem from when they fixed the defective factory paint?

I have the sunroof also, but I have not had any problems with mine so far. I love it! It's my favorite option. It did have a loud rattle under the headliner, but one trip to the dealer fixed that.

My truck is just over a year old and I've noticed the rubber trim on my moonroof looks to be dried up. I haven't noticed any cracking yet but it's possible since I live in San Diego where the sun is out all the time. I'll have to keep an eye out for problem. Thanks for alerting me.

Makes one wonder what is going to stop the new replaced rubber from doing the same thing?

If there was any chemical stripper involved when you had your paint redone, some could have been absorbed by the rubber seal. That would seriously shorten the life of the rubber.

Mine still looks and feels like brand new, though it is only seven months old...it better
