Question Problem choosing tires/lift

Hi All,
I looked for answers to this question through 34 pages and didn't see an exact answer (some were close).
Basically I'm loooking for new tires for my FX4 with stock 17" wheels. I don't really want to buy new wheels to fit the tires.
I was thinking about going with a 285/70R17 from BFG, then after running it through a metric calculator realized it was a 32.7/11.2R17 (exact numbers).

So at that size could I switch and use the 33/11.50R17 Swamper SSR?

I've had them before on a different rig and loved them and i'd rather go with a tire I know instead of one I've never tried.

Or is that too wide and I should look at going to a 17X8 wheel(technically Interco says 17X8 for the tire)?

Second question: running that size tire do I HAVE to lift it or will it fit OK.?
I'm looking at the skyjacker 3" as a possibility (don't want to go bigger) but not sure I can swing the extra cost right now.

Thanks!
Steve

You will have to lift the front for those tires. You need atleast a leveling kit for the front to fit the tires on your turck.

I ran BFG 285/70/17 on stock wheels for a year prior to any leveler and had zero rub in any off-road conditions I encountered...

I agree, I don't think you will need a lift.
