Reverse Problem ??

I've been lurking in the back ground since joning this great website and was wondering if any of you could give me some advice. I'm not sure if i have a problem or not but my 04 Screw takes close to 2 seconds to engage into reverse. My local dealer (that i have little faith in) tells me this is normal. I was wondering if this is something to worry about or do the new f150's just take a little while to shift into reverse.

It is normal, the "fill holes" on the sepertor plate arent the biggest and also means you have to wait longer for it to "fill" with fluid.

My 04 SCAB doesn't take 2 seconds to engage reverse. It is approx. 1 second every time.

My 01 took a couple of seconds to engage reverse. It was normal and sold truck with 65K miles on it.

The 05 goes right in though.

Check transmission fluid level. According to my dealer, they added 2 QUARTS when I complained of slow shifting. What they couldn't adequately explain is why they did not catch this when they prepped the car or when I had it in for an oil change. There may be a grain or two of salt in their story somewhere. Anyway, havn't noticed it since.

Thanks for the replies. You guys are Great. I've checked the fluid level and it was full. This may be the normal time it takes, I'm just use to a transmission going into reverse quicker. If it gets worse I'll take it in to the dealer maybe I'll see Thumper and his POS there

There may be a revised PCM calibration for that, I'm unsure. Mine engages quick, fast and in a hurry, but I've never sat around and timed it.

Mine was two quarts low as well when I took it in for the clu-clunk thing that I STILL have. It's irritating.

Just kidding bud.

Honestly, mine is a little slow. Maybe I will take it in and see you there. I notice it more than anything when backing up down an incline like my driveway but that might just be me.
