Yes there is a muffler solution: IMCO Extreme 1 chamber muffler. My truck sounds amazing. Way louder than a 40 Series, but still has a smooth powerful sound. Check my gallery for pics of the muffler.

PS: just noticed you didn't want to pay for another system. IMCO Extremes are around $40.

just remove the flomasters, put in a piece of straight pipe where they are. I replaced my fac. muffler with a piece of strt. pipe on the fac single exhaust and it is plenty loud and really sounds very deep and throaty. But also I would warn you, when they are really loud it is really cool sounding for about 3-4 months then you start to get tired of it being so loud and start thinking about putting a muffler back on. still havent yet though, because when you get on her she really sounds mean, and really makes heads turn. Which reminds me, also the cops heads!!! You may want to check on youR states insp. laws first, unless you know someone who will over look this at insp. time. Either way if you want loud strt. pipes will "GIT ER DONE"

Or you could rip out the guts from your cat, that always works, and you gain a little performance too.

Straight pipes are the way to go for sound IMO. I have a friend that did it to his 03' F-150 and it sounds PERFECT.
