"lean" caused by cool air intake

Can someone explain to me what is meant by "lean"? I have been reading about some cool air intakes on the new F-150's causing lean. I have no idea what this means, and was wondering if one of you guys may be able to steer me straight. I am looking at one of theses AirForceone intakes for my 05' 5.4 V8 from Troyer. If anyone has one installed, let me know your thoughts.

Thanks

Lean simply means your Fuel Air mixture has too much air in the mix ratio. Rich is too much fuel.

You won’t have any problem with “lean conditions” with the Air Force One from Troyer. Troyer has been doing R&D for over a year now to get all the kinks worked out of that system.

These trucks run lean from the factory on the high end to help conserve fuel, so the extra airflow just adds to the condition.

Probably not much to worry about, but personally, I am getting a programmer to fix this problem. Seen too many motors blow from a lean condition.

volant has the kinks worked out of their too now. the problem was the air was sticking to the side of the tube around the bend to the TB, the OPPOSITE side of the MAF insert, so the MAF was not accurately reading all the air passing through the tube. they have since fixed it by placing a small bump in the bend to redirect air to the MAF
