I know that for the '04 they are. The clock on my original 6 cd player fritzed out on me after only 92 miles so they gave me one
out of a Lariat ( a much nicer one I might add ) just went right in
no problem. ( though the new one has an extra jack in the back
that is supposedly for an amp or other extra toy )..
Beautiful truck you have there. My truck was the only reg. cab.
flareside I had seen in Dark Toreador Red 'til now......

New Head Unit: $300
Wiring Harness: $8
Metra DIN Stereo install kit: $15
JL 6x8 speakers: $88
Do it yourself, 1 hour of labor and a kick azz sound = priceless.
Some guys have swapped the stock radio for the six disk changer, and had it work, others say it didn't work.
Others have claimed their six disk changers were junk.
The guys with the premium Audiovox mostly like it. Some have yanked it.
The MP3 capability is not an assured thing when buying it on e-bay. Some are marked that way, but don't play MP3's others are 'claimed' to be MP3, but are not. Don't buy from a vendor that doesn't have a very high (98+) satisfaction percentage, and hopefully, more than a few feedbacks.
Scoschc kit is nice looking, low priced, and wallyworld sells the harness for 7 bucks. A 100 bucks of wallyworld speaker upgrade, and a good Kenwood off of e-bay for 100 and you have a 220 dollar 300% improvement.

The one with the 'smaller' pocket is the Scoschc, the one with the big pocket is the more expensive Metra mount.
Just changing the speakers makes a huge difference. The factory speakers are simple 25 watt units. Made cheap, in Mexico, with quantity not quality in mind.
A Kenwood or any other name brand stereo with the stock speakers will sound much better, but if you play it loud, the stock speakers don't last very long.

They make great stereos ( I had one in my van a while back )
I would love to see how that model looks in these dashs and
how many watts is it pushing ?
i agree with going with a aftermarket radio. i went with a kenwood. if you buy the radio from crutchfield you get the din adapter and wiring harness for free alomg with instructions for removing the dash.
i have a pic of the kenwood in my gallery.

I'd stay away from crutchfield. They are one of the highest price places online.
You can go to Epinions.com, search for a unit that you are interested in and then do "buy" . They search the web for the lowest prices and they have "trusted sellers".. Which basically means you won't get taken and if you do, they have some recourse actions to take against them.
