Factory splash guards

Can someone who has installed the factory splash guards tell me:

1. Do holes need to be drilled or do OE mount locations exist?

2. About how much did you pay?

Thanks in advance

My 04 Screw doesn't have them and I would like to install.

I put them on my truck, and they used the factory holes for the fender flares. they were $71 and change at the stealership parts counter. Make sure you buy the correct set for your truck, they have 5 different sets depending on wether you have 2 or 4 wheel drive, with or without fender flares, and styleside or flareside bed. Also you may have to ream out the holes in the splash guards a little to get them to line up correctly

If you have a 4WD with a styleside bed and fender flares, the correct set has a "BAA" at the end of the part number

4x4 Styleside with wheel moldings is a 4L3z-16A550-BAA.

You have to drill one hole on each side of the back, and the front use existing holes. Pretty easy install. Just do it yourself!!

Instead of drilling the truck, I drilled a new hole in each of the rear mud guards.

Not if you have running boards...

The factory splash guards do NOT work with the factory molded plastic platform running boards. The tips of the boards are about 1/2 inch too long. Husky mud guards do work with those running boards but you have to specify that you have factory running boards when you order them.

Thanks for the info guys.

I have the dealer installed factory running boards.

I'd really prefer not to drill any metal due to rusting concerns.

Thayer, are you saying this can be done for the rear guards by drilling a hole in the guard (presumably to match an existing OE hole in the metal) instead of drilling the metal?

DRZ400,

Thayer is correct. The rear factory splash guards do have to have one hole drilled in them in order to use the mounting locations which are existing inside the fender lip.

Thanks kd4crs.

No problem to drill the guard.

I was hoping the OE splash guards would utilize OE pre-drilled holes in the metal and it looks like this is the case.

The guards will help a lot in the winter as snow, slush and ice kicked up by the front tires accumulates on the running board which in turn makes the doors difficult to open. I also like the way they look on the truck.

Thanks again.

Don't forget, if you have the OEM platform running board the Ford front splash guards will not fit unless you cut off 1/2" of the front tip of the running boards. The Husky mud guards are designed to work with the OEM platform running boards.

Post Husky part numbers...

The Husky Mud Guards for the front of the 04-05 F150 with wheel lip moldings and factory running boards is: 56591. The part number for the rear mud guards is: 57591. Here is the link to Husky' s Ford application guide: Ford Applications Hope this helps.

Thanks bud. That's exactly what I needed. Still not sure they'll look right on mine with the beige flares and boards but, I may give them a try. If they don't look right (color-wise), I may have to paint them...

RP,

Always glad to help. I remember reading a post several months ago where someone painted the Husky mud guards and they turned out very nice. I bet a couple of searches would produce that information.

I actually did not "drill" the hole needed, I just shot the screw in there straight through the metal. Worked like a charm and I did not have an extra hole in my splash guards.
