Adding Power seat memory?
Adding Power seat memory?
Does anyone know if it is possible to add drivers power seat memory to a 2004 F150 FX4(not a lariat). I already have the power seat option. I did not know when I purchased my truck that my wife would drive my vehicle as much as she does. And of course every time she does it's 3" off in every direction. I guess I should have purchased a Lariat with that option.
Thank you for any input,
Tj

Yes, but you won't be doing it, I suspect.
I have the memory seat in my STX. It of course came with manual seats.
I considered hooking up the module, and worked out all the wiring, to use it without hooking to the PCM. One sensor wire still eludes me. I know where it goes, but am not sure if it wants' voltage or ground. Not a big deal.
The insurmountable problem for someone who has the regular power seat is that there are sensors on each of the three motors. These send signals to the Module telling it where the seat is, and thus goes into the program, to be recalled.
The wiring is extensive, about 40 wires under the seat.
While you could buy a memory seat and swap the 'cradle, or base', you would then have to do the wiring. Not that hard, just a lot.
They don't sell the seat bases, the motors, the sensors, etc. seperately. Not even from the seat maker. I tried to get them to sell even small part. No go.
After you put in the power seat base, and did your own wiring harness (just a lot, not hard), it still would not work with a remote, of course. It would only work with the three buttons on the side. Big one for programming, two small ones that are for setting and for executing.
So it can be done, it's just more expense and trouble than most would want.
If you do nab one, I can supply you with a schematic, if you want.
Also, watch shipping a seat. The module is very, very sensitive to shock.

Ahhh another satisfied FX4 customer...
Just kidding. I did a quick look on the web and came up empty. I would imagine you could just the component from a dealer. The only thing I'm not sure about is how the seats tie into the remotes. I know depending upon which of the two remotes you use it will position the seat differently. That may just be tied in to the seat's module though.
Good luck with it.
Looks like CA has all the details, wouldn't have thought it that complicated

Hi vader716; Complicated? Not really, just a bunch of wires. If you get a chance, take a look under your memory seat and check out the amount of wires.
That big long black module is the memoryseat module. count the wires, ouch.
The intresting thing about the way they did it, is they used the non power seat switch, ran the harness from that, into another harness to the memory module, then ran another harness to the seats. Changed color coding each time.
Then they run 7(!) wires to the three side switches, three wires each to the three motors, well, you get the idea.
The other goodies under there, the sensor for the air bags, the heated seat module, etc. are very simple.

Thanks for the quick reply & info guys! I don't think I will try and do this any time soon. It sounds a little too complex and time consuming to say the least. I guess the next truck I get I'll have to make sure it has this option, of course by then my wife will not want to drive my truck, you just can't win!

I almost tried this a couple months ago on my power seat equipped FX4 but I chickened out. I had two power/ memory seats found and the schematic but I was afraid in order for it to work it needed to tie into the CAN bus. So Chris your saying that it only needs power to work with the local seat buttons? Can you email me exactly what you had to do and your schematic/wiring color code? I may do this after all since I really dont need the remote to work or the pedals to change, just the seat to move back to where I like it. The sweet spot is hard to find each time it gets changed!
