Leer 700 Series Tonneau Cover or ARE LSII?

Which one should I choose Leer 700 Series or ARE LSII? Is one made better than the other, or does one look better than the other?

I have never seen the Leer in person, but IMO the ARE is pretty ugly. I didnt like the raised section in the middle. I went with the Tri-Glas cover because I like its lines better.

Isn't tri-glass a lot heavier though? I want to be able to have the option to take this hard top cover off once in awhile. Like maybe three times a year at most.

Its not much heavier than the ARE...I am not sure about the Leer. I have taken mine off a couple times and its not a big deal...it just takes two people. My brother-in-law and I can take it off pretty easy, we just pick it up and let my wife drive the truck out from under it. The nice part about (and the others may be the same) is it mounts via an alluminum frame....all you do is take 4 c-clamp type hold downs off and it comes completely off.

I love my ARE LSII... I think it looks excellent in my opinion...

As for removal, it's definitely a two person deal but, is generally simplistic. I've never had this lid off of my truck but, I have helped a buddy remove his LSII from his 03' SuperCrew.

The ARE's quality, in my opinion, is second to none.

I think it compliments the lines of the hood.(leer 700)it is heavy enough for two. i had to remove it once and it took an hour to reinstall,i would recommend marking the bed rails if you ever have to remove it.operation is easy ,quality top notch, paint match dead on.price high ,1000$.

You guys are awesome, thanks! I think I'm going to go with ARE because I've read that they come with an electronic lock. Which I assume hooks up to the factory electronic locks?

Doesn't come with it although, they did have a coupon on their website for a free one... it's like $100 as I recall if purchased separately.

I have one on mine and LOVE it. It hooks up via the regular locks and is REALLY nice to have for a little bit of piece of mind.

Crappy pic but, here's the lock assembly...

I purchased mine from a company here in Louisville called Louisville Toppers.

I negotiated the price with L'Toppers and then ended up financing it in with my truck...

Wow thats expensive 866 for the thing and then 186 for the lock. Definitely going to try and squeeze this cost through the dealer or at least part of it since my truck will be back in the shop for another week. They'll save 300 b/c I'm not doing a rental car, so 700 b/c of how bad they messed the truck up for the second time.

Just bought the LEER, $989.00 out the door with the keyless entry. I like the lines on the Leer better because they match the line of the hood. The Leer also comes standard with the liner, scissor assist lift and the keyless entry is free this month. The Leer also has a special front hinge to keep it from rubbing the paint in the front of the bed. The hinge actually lifts the front of the cover up and away from the bed as it opens. This is needed to clear the so called horns on the the front of the bed.
