Console question

what is the best way to replace my 20% section in my front seat with a console? I dont neccessarily want the seat and would rather have a full time console. ANy ideas?

Ford does have a console with no shifter, but it you rarely see any so i doubt you would find one on ebay. And to buy it has a whole from ford would be pretty expensive.

Several have made the attempt, it seems more work than it should be. You can buy the console itself for very little on e-bay, but it doesn't have a 'front top'. You could just yank the little seat out, and put in some kind of aftermarket unit, or custom one up.
The look would be interesting if you just left the carpet down there, but no arm rest. Also, the carpet would have to be covered, both because the holes and the airbag module is mounted there.

will the front piece work on a console that had the shifter on it?
the console are going for 45 bucks on ebay and the front cup holder is $150 from Ford? Any one try it yet?
