The Ford Gold Alarm System is about to go Platinum!!

Thats right. Around June Code will release a new Ford Part # for a Platinum System. This system will be a better version of the Gold, with a better shock sensor and a few more options. It will also now come with a 2 way transmitter with the picture of the car on it and what not. The cool part is the addition of car link. I dont know if anyone knows what this is, but car link is similar to onstar in a sense that you can call your car and start it or shut it off or unlock your doors or lock your doors. No monthly charge, just the cost of the call. You can do this from anywhere you can get a phone signal. Pretty cool technology.

They are also coming up with a plug in bronze system that will use a mini remote with one button on it for start. Pretty neat also.

Lastly, the figured out how to interface with the databus. This will allow you to tap two wires into the diagnostic port for your chipped key or PATS bypass. This way you take the unreliability out of the ring not sending enough signal now. Now the rmst will communicate directly with the data bus. The Code guys and the Ford guys are really coming up with some great ideas.

Oh and one more thing, the remotes on the systems will look more like the factory remote now, only have options for a slimmer model, with 4 or six buttons and your choice of a Ford or Lincoln remote. Its about time they did something like this.

Sandog, when do you think these will be widely available. I'm taking delivery of my truck in June and was going to have the dealer install a Gold system when I picked it up, but if this is coming out in the next few months, I'll just wait. Sounds like a great system!

Sounds pretty jazzy. I was considering the Gold series but now I might have to reconsider.

Sandog53,

Is it plug and play if you have the reg Ford (Code Alarm) unit already? I want to remoe start but the other features sound neat too. I do have the keypad so may not need this pkg. Any ideas? Cost?

Thanks.

I ordered the code alarm CA-670 yesterday. Probably the same thing that the Platinum is. Since Code Alarm makes the alarms for ford.

CA-670 works with the factory keypad, and is a 2-way alarm/remote start. Sweet.

Marketing 101

"wait till it gets cold and run a promo" ... that's the issue I ran into when I purchased my auto start ... most people only think of using an auto start in the cold weather, when it's just as needed (and nice to have) in hot weather. Most of the advertisements you see show the guy standing in his house starting his car with 3 feet of snow outside! How about the guy with the black truck and black interior who wants to start his truck and cool it down before he comes out from work when it's 110F. No offense ... your marketing rep needs some training in marketing.

I ordered the CA-670 from www.autoalarmpro.com $260. Never dealt with them before, but it comes pre-wired. I'm interested in seeing how it is pre-wired. But I'll let you know.

Hey Crudeau, let me know how that arrives with the pre-wiring and the detailed instructions, I am wanting to get the same one and am hesitant about doing it myself. If the instructions are that good, maybe I can pull it off.

BTW, I got an email from Derek @ Auto Alarm Pro and he says that the CA-670 is an upgrade from the Ford Platinum package. I think he said the 2-way remote part was the difference.

Good luck with it!
