bigger gas tank

I was wondering if anyone has looked into putting the 37 gallon gas tank into their trucks. I purchased mine not knowing that this option was out there, and am interested in it. I travel alot with a camper and would like to stretch my times between fueling.

I too am interested in this information. I think it will be prohibitively expensive though. In my case I would need to buy the tank, and the skid plates too.

I ordered the 37 with my scab which is due for delivery in 20 days I figure that with the 27 gal and a rough 14mpg avg you make it 378 miles ~ roughly. for $60 fill up ($2.20/gal here in Lexington, KY). the 37 gal will cost appx $80 (ooouch) but you will go ~520 miles on a tank- maybe a little better depending on your foot, mpg's. so you are making 140-150 miles more per tank
this is just basic presumption as i dont have mine yet... maybe if someone has the tank they can either support me or not-

I looked into also, but I think you need to buy a new fuel pump assembly. The tech told me that they were different in the 2 tanks. Also the price really made my mind up. It was about a grand for all of the parts. Please let me know if you can find them cheaper, because for a few hundred, I would be interested. Thanks

I have the optional larger tank, i thought it was 35 gal but it could be 37 gal. I can get about 900kms on the highway with it and it reduces my stops at the pumps. I am glad i got it, gas needle doesn't drop as fast.

is that right ?? Wow! to get the 35.7 it tacked a $80 ($100 is the retail price - i have z plan) if a new pump assembly was req'd wouldn't you assume that price for the bigger tank to be much much higher? parts are different i realize, but is it that big of a change to make?

yea its 35.7 gal. tank, & 900kms is 560miles

Well you to have to consider that it was only the cost difference from the factory as apposed to buying them again. The total price difference is about that, $100.00. I was mistaken with the grand figure....that was installed. About $825 for just the tank and pump.

Why dont you just add a fuel cell with a gravity feed into the main tank? It would be cheaper and allow a loarger tank capacity than the 37gl tank.

That is about right on for my truck. I can make it from here to Denver without stopping for fuel, which is exactly 550 miles to where I stop. It is worth the option price to make the longer hauls.

At 14.35 miles per gal, you can get 387.8 miles, exactly.

Don't ask how I know this.

Here in Houston, Tx I just filled up my 27 gallon tank for the bargin price of $2.11 /gallon.

With a combination of Highway and City driving I am averaging 17-18mpg. I can travel ~450 miles before the "Low Fuel" warning is displayed.

i have the 35.7, sometimes I dont fill up until the low fuel indicator beeps at me. I can usually put about 32.5 gallons in it after that, it cost me 75-80 bucks to fill depending on where i go, and will last me on average 400-410 city driving miles.

so only about 12.5mpg! =(

i have yet to take her out on a trip and see what she does on the highway mpg's.
