To avoid it do not use your hands or the bottoms of your feet.

Use your tongue to work the door handle and then do a 'drop and roll' to exit the vehicle as if you were on fire.
(screaming is unneccesary)
Once you are clear of the vehicle, stand up, brush yourself off and go on about your business.
OUTSTANDING

Raoul...you're doing things the hard way.

The fabric softner sheet works best and it's a much simpler solution. When y'all dress in the morning, insert a softner sheet in your shorts, continue dressing. You're good to go for the day and there's no need to use deodorants or after shave lotions.

do u have any added electrical accessories?

i thought i remember hearing that it could be caused from a poor ground connection, but im not sure. I got shocked from my 2001 quite i bit earlier this year, and i have like 10 added elictrical things. i reconnected all my wiring and havent noticed it since. im not sure if that was what fixed it though...

I didn't have leather in my old chevy and when it would get dry out I would get shocked like crazy. I just got into the habit of touching my wedding ring to the exposed metal of the door jamb as I was exiting the truck, you can still feel the shock but it's not as bad as the exposed fingertips.

I hadn't thought of the dryer sheets. Matter of fact my wife sometimes uses them on her synthetic sadles when she rides and it's dry out (not a problem on the real sadles.)

I guess it would make sense to use them on a truck seat!

"don't underestimate the power of that little Snuggle Bear"

lol clasic!

Me either! I usually turn mine around 2-3 times a day. If I take it off I miss being able to turn it. Maybe its another one of those things that woman use to control us

I've noticed shocks in my more modern vehicles. My f-150 does it as does my 2002 Dodge car. (Unless I've become some sort of voltage inducing super-hero)

I forget exactly where I read it but I think it has something to do with replacing some of the carbon black that was normally used in tires with newer materials like silica, which alter the vehicles grounding through the tires.

I read it someplace else and I think modern tires have already started to change their composition, but you can search on the below URL about future suggestions:
http://www.volpe.dot.gov/infosrc/str...n21/chap2.html

"replacement of carbon black in tires with nanoparticles of inorganic clays and polymers, leading to tires that are environmentally friendly and wear-resistant;"
