FINALLY....got my truck back
FINALLY....got my truck back
Well as most of you know, I've been without my truck for a little over 6 weeks and Ive been driving a lame taurus. I finally made the trip to Conn. this weekend and picked it up. The right side of the bed was my biggest concern, since it had to be totally replaced due to the butyl pad issue. I have to say, im very happy with the outcome. The bed lines up perfect all over and the paint is a perfect match. The guy at the body shop a;lso undercoated the bed and did the rear wheel wells. That looks great, no more faded yellow paint in the wells. It makes it look so much better now. The rear window was squeaking so bad I wanted to kill myself...that was fixed as well. I havent heard it squeak once since friday night, so I hope thats fixed for good. My steering nibble is gone, luckily mine was just in need of a tire rotation. They reflashed my pcm, to try to help the sluggish throttle response. It helped a little and seems to have given me a little more power, but time will tell. Maybe im just excited to have it back. Last on my list was the rear end whine above 80mph. All they did there was drain it and fill it with the new oil and addative. It whines a little at about 85 but not as bad. Not sure if its worth worrying about.
Now for the best part. After a long battle with myself over what exhaust to get, I decided to get the Bassani cat back, SI/DO. I must say, its awesome. The tips look great and the sound is incredible. Not to loud, barely noticeable at idle, mellows out at cruise, but roars when you get on it or when taking off from a stop. My brother took it for a ride while I was standing on his porch and I could hear it at least 2 blocks away. I know...I know...wheres the pics. The weather was so crappy this weekend so its pretty dirty right now. By time I get a chance to wash it up, its gonna be raining again. So as soon as I can I'll get it looking good and post some pics. Im gonna try to figure out where to host a video, and I'll post some video clips of it running so you can hear it. Although it was a little more money than any other system I was looking at, it was well worth it and im extremely happy with it. SO now the mod bug has bitten me real good. Im not sure what to do next...level, wheels and tires, maybe a tuner from Troyer...whos knows. Off to the aftermarket catalogs and web sites
