In Channel window visor

Does anyone here have them? They just push in? What keeps them from falling out? Do you like them? I was getting ready to order some but wanted to see what yaw thought before doing so. I like them better than stick on's they appear more sleek and if I get tired of them I don't have the sticky mess to deal with.

I have 'ventvisor' brand in channels. You peel off some sticky back stuff that seal it around the edge, and insert little clips in the window channel. There is some glue residue, if you pulled them off, but I don't think it would be hard to clean.

I like the way they look. They do make a small amount of wind noise. Not loud, like leaving the window down a fraction of an inch, but some. I notice it if the wind is coming from one side, and blowing hard while I drive at low speeds. Again, not something you would hear in an older style truck, but these trucks are very quite.

Also there is a slight tighting of the window when you raise it. You can hear it hit the in-channel clips and slow.

Still I like the ones on my truck, and I must admit that complaints are pretty minor.

Hey Chris,

thats the only thing that has kept me from buying visors for my truck. I have a few STX "mini stickers" (I got em from nditech) to put on the visors when I get some. BUT, I hate road noise with a purple passion. On a scale of 1-10, where would you rate the noise?

I hate doing scale things. Does where you live have a lot of wind? If you do, I think the noise will annoy you.

With the radio on, not booming, but so I can hear it, you don't notice the wind noise unless in a high wind. When I do notice it is when the radio is off and I'm just driving. When the wind hits from the side, it makes more noise than the blower fan on low, not as much as blower fan on second setting. When the blower is on third, or max, or music is on, you don't hear it at all.
Hope that helps
Chris

I just installed the AVS in channel vent visors on my Screw and really like them. I had them on my Sport Trac as well. Here in the deep south, it is nice to be able to leave your windows vented on a hot day and not worry about rain getting in from a pop up thunderstorm.

As far as added wind noise; no real change in how it sounded before they were installed IMO.

I had them and took them out! ... I don't wash my rig every day and couldn't stand the noise! ... Heard the road & tires more. Powering up was very slow and loud grating on the glass edge with just a little dirt.

On the bright side they removed without any issues!

I've had window visors on at least 8 previous vehicles that I can count up here quickly.

Hi, tycreek;
Could I ask a couple of questions?
What brand did you have installed?
And do you drive with the windows closed, open, partway open?
I never drive with my windows open, bad for gas mileage but more important, the weather here works against it.
Might make a difference to the guys looking.
Thanks
Chris

Damn, don't know which way to go. I guess I don't need them I'm not a smoker and I don't leave the windows cracked because I don't want dust in my truck. So guess I will save the money!!

Sure! ... I can't remember the brand ... but there were only 2 mfg's back at the end of 03. Don't get me wrong ... I like what they do functionally and cosmetic.
My windows see up/down partway a lot, both city and highway. I like to keep the windows cracked during the summer ...

I like the looks of the in-channel but if or when I get another set they'll adhered to the outside.

Part of my purchase reason was the quietness … and for me I don’t want to ruin that where I can help it.

The BFG’s were sort of a functional must for my uses. Though slightly louder than the flimsy stock tires most notably 45-50mph.

The Corsa Touring exhaust because it was the quietest full flow system I could find. I actually like that slight extra bit of sound though when I get into the throttle. Helps me keep tab on what the engine is doing when pulling and using cruise.

Ok, off track … if you always keep the surfaces extremely clean the in-channels are not too bad … as they get scratched and dirty the noises increase.

[IMG][/IMG] I haven't noticed any additional wind noise (unless my hearing is going). I like Weathertech's a lot. The front's install with no tape(use metal clips on the bottom "leg"). Rears use tape(very easy install). The one and only little peev is when you look out the pass side mirror that "leg" is in the mirror( dosen't really block anything though and is not noticable to me anymore). Even with that, I still am very happy with them and feel comfrotable recommending them.
