First round of mods are on...

I finally returned home and the FX4 is being treated pretty nicely;

EXHAUST:
went with classic Flow 40 series si/do w/ 4" stainless Magnaflow rolled edge tips (not sure why they don't offer these in their cat-backs but they're ****-hot!"

XM:
Terk XM Commander(ash-tray install w/antennae inside dash on pass side near windshield)

TINT: 15% all around

ON ORDER:
Auto-Spring (120 free shipping on e-bay)
Air Raid MIT to be combined with K&N purchased at Auto Zone
Lower grille insert purchased from Premierautomotive.com

Pictures will be up this week, just waiting for the parts to be delivered. I'll take some pics of the exhaust tomorrow.

Speaking of pictures, anyone know what to do when you try to set up a new gallery and it said that you are an UNKOWN user???
I'd like to post a few pictures, but I think the system isn't working for me. Ack.

These are two mods I've been considering just like the BlackLariatFx4:

Auto-Spring (120 free shipping on e-bay)
Air Raid MIT to be combined with K&N purchased at Auto Zone

Very interested in your results. I what to level my FX4 but keep the factory 18" wheels. Maybe the shorter 1 1/4" front spacers instead of the 1 5/8".

I like the Airaid MIT because it takes up a lot less space under the hood and with the K&N I figure I'll get some modest gain in power. Airaid sells this combo for less then with the K&N filter. I think it's call the Airaid Jr. 'bout $130 on the internet.

If you don't tow anything often or haul much weight around I don't see why you wouldn't go with the 2.5" leveling kit. I did mine and I measured everything and my back still sits a 1/2" higher than the front.

If there was something I could say to get you guys to go with the regular intake kit, I would. As someone who has had the MIT(using the stock paper filter) I can tell you the power gain is minimal compared to the regular Airaid made for the new 5.4 engines. Just thought I'd throw in my two cents...Kevin

I agree that with the stock paper filter and a MIT you won't see much difference. I was considering using K&N Filter in the stock air box above the carb and then the MIT out the front. Airaid calls this their Airaid Jr.

I'll probably get the 1 5/8" autospring for a 2" lift. I've only seen pictures of this lift in this forum and not a real truck. I guess I'll be the first on on the block.

Great kit and size. It looks as good in person. [IMG][/IMG]

Norman,
That gain is at 4200 RPMs. According to Mike Troyer, the Airaid that I have makes 15 extra HP at 2000 and 20 at 3000. I have no proof of that, but I do know there was noticable power gained between 2000 and 3000...Kevin

Just an update for those interested. While I'm over here in Dallas testing with the PD, my father was kind enough to let me assist him with installing my 2.5" autospring....All I can say is it's beautiful. The front rake is now only 1/4 of an inch. My original rake might have been increased due to my brushguard but I definatley love the look, ride and feel of the autospring kit. I should have done this last year.

Also, as far as the MIT and K&N..I can't say much about hp/tq gain since I don't race my truck, but on the highway I was averaging 20mpg on my way to Dallas from Florida. Before I was only getting 18mpg. My flowmaster exhaust also seems to sound a little louder and after I removed the cheesy air-raid pot-metal emblem it looks close to stock.

I promise, pics will be up on the 18th when I get home.

BTW, I just passed my Civil Service Police exam with a 99 so I'm pretty pumped. Just felt like sharing..
