What you do is Step on the brake and start giving it some gas until the wheels are ready to break loose, then when the light changes hammer it. Hopefully the wheels won't break loose Too much.
Basically I Launch off the line and jump to a 1/2 truck length or so, it kind of levels off, and then shoots to redline. I'm shifting manually as well (the flow through console helps with this).
I'm sure a chip would get rid of the "leveling" but my truck is stock and I just play around. I can't afford to get into any trouble.
The Hemi's are like this too. That's why The F150's always look so good in the towing tests... Low End Torque Baby!!

I suggest you all take a Titan test drive at a dealership. I've rode in and driven my cousin's so I know what's up.

I'm not about to make an excuse for our F150s, but you really don't know what you're up against. I hate to say it, but I will bow down to a Titan in a race (but of course ours look much better cruisin!).

When I was stock and most certainly NOW I will OWN a Titan on the road or the track. Find one without NOS, turbo or SC to take me and I'll believe you.
My buddies stock Titan SE extended cab 2WD ran a 10.14 in the 1/8th mile at 69mph. I ran a 9.95@70.5mph stock from the factory with ZERO MODS.
I think you dont know what fast is. Even now my truck is by NO MEANS fast and I am running VERY LOW 14's (almost 13's) in the 1/4 without any kind of boost. All motor. When you click off some 1.8 60fts you are feeling some good low end TQ.
Bring on any NA HEMI or Titan, modded or not and I will either beat them or hang dead even with them. Only a modded HEMI will with plenty of bolt ons might take me. Full bolt on HEMI's are running about 8.8's in the 1/8th mile if they are lucky. On rare occasions you might see one with an 8.7 and I have only seen ONE and he had all kinds of crap removed from his truck and some weird make-shift mods. Nobody has yet to match his times...so go figure.
Most RC SB 2WD Hemi's w/ 3.92's are lucky to get out of the 9's in the 1/8mile with Intake, exhaust, tuner, tranny mod, and a 180 t-stat.
I have yet to see a Titan pull low 9's with bolt -ons. I think a 9.6 is the best posted NA time to date on titantalk. thehead over at titantalk is running a 13.7 on a 75 shot of NOS and bolt ons. That is terrible IMO.
So, lets hear it.

Oh, here we go. Another "gear-head" who is beyond mis-informed.
What if I told you I have a video of me whooping a Reg. Cab Short Bed Hemi, 2WD on 17" wheels no less? Would you believe me? From a 20mph roll too !!! Oh and he had intake and exhaust. I did it on less mods than I have now too.
Well, I do have a video. I do have timeslips of a 9.19@75.51mph run. My best run is a 9.10@76.2mph in the 1/8.
Do you think I own a 4x4 or something?
In stock form, with ZERO MODS I ran a 9.95@70.5mph. That put my 0-60mph in the 7.25-7.5 second range. Oh, and I have video of that too.
Here is my set-up as it sat STOCK on my 9.95@70.5 1/8ET
2004 F-150 XL Reg. Cab Short Bed 2WD
3.73 Posi rear end
5.4L 3V
17" wheels w/ 235/70/17 Hankook Tires
Here is my set-up NOW with a 9.10@76.2mph 1/8ET. I have a G-tech time of 14.32@92mph in the 1/4 with SPIN !!! My truck as it sits will run high 8's in the 1/8th with traction.
2004 F150 XL Reg Cab Short Bed 2WD
3.73 posi rear end
5.4L 3V
18" Lariat wheels w/ Toyo Proxes ST 295/45/18 tires
Airaid Intake
Magnaflow Exhaust w/ rear cats removed
Excalibrator tuner 93 octane custom tune
Underdirve pullies
I dropped 8 tenths in my 1/8mile time w/ basic bolt-ons.
You my frined are mis-informed and no there is no Lightning engine in my truck.
You want pics? Timeslips? Video?
I hate the anti-F-150 attitude, it's SLOW, no pulling power....etc. Do you realize both the Titan and Dodge come with 5 speed trannys vs. our 4 speed? Do you realize they both have lower factory gearing than we do? Do you realize we have much heavier trucks than they do?
Point being made, with all the odds against me, I am winning. Freak truck? I dunno. But that cant be because another member is running faster than me without any NOS, turbo...etc. Same style truck. Did Ford underrate the new 5.4? I think so. My buddy in his HEMI calls my truck a mutant...LOL!!!
If you purchased a 4x4 Lariat with 3.55's on 32.7" tires in a Supercab model.....dont be surprised about how slow your truck is. Throw some 4.10's and a 5 speed in a truck like that and see what happens. Nuff said.

Pfftt.. I test drove a Titan when they first came out. I had a Nissan Dealer two blocks from my house. They just vibrate, make so much noise, and Ride so Bad you "feel" like you're going fast but that's about it.
I swear the brakes pulsed already on the Brand new truck I was testing! He said they weren't "broke in" yet?? Whatever.

wow, this thread got crazy in a hurry....me and the guy that raced in the f150 vs titan showdown are friends at least....you guys are going nuts. Basically i feel i lost cuz i have more weight to pull than he does as i have the 22 inch rims and he has the stock 17"s even though i do have the tuner, exhaust and intake. In the eighth he was far enough ahead of me to pull in my lane, thats with his stock extended cab titan se against my slightly modded, heavier xlt scab. i want to change the gears and put the underdrive pulleys and maybe put the stock wheels on and try him again and im guessing i should walk him by a good margin.

Ok let me throw in my funny little Titan story here. Was out at local track coupla weeks ago to run my daughters Lightning, stock except for loud *** full Bassani exhaust. Sitting in staging lane next to an older guy like me in a new Titan, said he just bought it and wife said he could come race it! He asked me straight faced what a Lightning was so I said just a stock F150 with cool wheels. So we get up to box and I proceed to burn about 20k miles off the tires and his face is Needless to say I ran a 13.5 to his 16.5...he was not amused!

He ran a 16.5? Oh do tell !!! Was he a 4x4 or 4x2?
See, here is what happens. People get into a new vehicle and use the damn butt dyno. WRONG THING TO DO.
My friends ZX2 Escort "feels" like it is hauling *** compared to my truck. Shorter gears winding out, closer to the ground...etc. Well, when we race it's obviously all over.
The Titan has a great 1st gear...it's no champ but it pulls. So, they base their 1st gear experience on the trucks overall performance. The best time I have see a stock Extended Cab Titan SE 2WD w/ 3.36 gears run in the 1/4 is a 15.8. Not fast at all. That is the lightest version of a Titan you can get.

It's not just 1st gear, he'll pull on me at any speed.
I guess Car and Driver, Truck Trends, Motor Trends, etc. and every other magazine don't know how to time their 1/4 mi runs according to your dumb ***!!!
Read these so you keep your mouth shut!

Check out those times, especially towing times too! No comparison.
Don't get me wrong I love my truck, but it's not capable of beating a Titan.

titans are not the quickest stock trucks out there they run anywhere from 15.5s to 16.3s depending on the model..... bone stock......titan = junk .....way too many problems
average f150 runs low 16s...... so it is possible for a f150 to take out a titan if it was a 4x4 4 door
if you line up the same model f150 to a titan the titan will be quicker......(remember i said same model ) not a stripped down short bed against a loaded 4x4 titan (stock)
you will never see me in a pos titan because of all the problems
