First post/noobie question

Hi all....First time poster aswell as a First time Ford owner. I recently purchased a 04 F150 XLT 4.6L. I truly love my new truck...wish I had bought one sooner. The only negitive I can say so far is the throttle lagg I'm having. From my reading, I've pretty much decided the Xcalibrator is the way to go as far as tuners go. Being new to trucks in general, I'd like to ask how hard is it to tune the truck once I have the Xcalibrator in hand. Is it a simple "do it yourself" type deal or would I need to have some "know how" in order to get it done. Sorry for the noobie question but from all the threads im reading, mods seem to be part of owning a rig...gotta luv it!!

The xcalibrator is a snap to use. You essentially make sure everything is turned off. (headlights, radio, amps, cigarette lighter plugs, etc...)

plug the puppy in press a few bottons and turn ignition to on without starting the truck

wait till the power light starts to blink again (5-15min)
and you done. go rip some rubber!!!

It takes a little longer the first time you do it because it is saving your stock program so you can go back to it if you need service or run into problems with the tune.

I just got one for my 05' Expy last night and it took about 8 minutes to load the new tune. I don't know if the process is any different for the 4.6, but i am sure it is just as easy. You might have to disable the fuel pump before you start.

The Xcalibrator is very easy to use. 2004 and newer F150’s don’t have to disable the fuel pump. That question was asked and answered in the “Chips & Programming” forum; Mike weighed in.
