I was riding with my wife on a four lane road. Some kid in his dads Z-71 pulls up next to me and nods. I nod back. He then flips me off and laughs. Remember, my wife is with me and told me not to get angry. But this blatant, unprovoked attack would not stand...... I gave the Beast a little rev and so did he....light went green and the dude never had a chance. My wife was hella mad but laughed later. Im glad I got the 5.4 and great insurance rates.

A stock f-150 will really lay down rubber if you stomp on it? I thought you could only get them to do that if you got a performance chip or something? oh wait...you have an xlt right t-bird? i guess you have the gerneral tires and they are skinnier....maybe that explains it..does it?

So what does that make the Lightning? Just an F-150 with a supercharger?

No one likes a better looking truck and one that has performance. I think beating a Z-71 is worth having your wife mad at you for the afternoon.

I test drove a dodge ram with the 5.7 and a chevy z71 with a 5.3 371 ltd slip (Don't rember the axle raitio) and a nissan titan before I bought my 04 ford.

booth the dodge, titan and chevy had more get up go than my 04 5.4, with a 355 ltd slip..

The Dodge ram had a better ride than the chevy and My ford rides and handels so much better than the two, the Titan was a sports car, if I had to go racing, Id take the titan.

In terms of looks, all trucks are bricks, today they use more rounded body work and plastic than the good old days, I sure miss vent windows...96 f-150 is the all time best looking truck, back than thier was no prtending this is a truck.

maybe the f-150 is the best selling truck ( only ford is going to say this ) because it is the best compramise in terms of practicality and cost, If ford had put more ***** under the hood, Ford would be the best truck on the market place with no compramises.

I have an excellant truck and the other(s) who do not own a ford can play thier games...thier the ones who feel they have to prove something.

my wife and I get singled out all the time.

Usually it's: "hey niiiiiicccce truck!"

Doesnt come from single guys, but usually young couples (with or without small kids)

So we tell them how great the Crew is and why is 100% better than having a minivan.

Gotta say what I've noticed... women (the wives mentioned above) LOVE the Fords (and dislike the Dodge and Chev). The guys like this as they want a truck and now there is a model their wife would agree to (they are just gnawing at their wrists wanting to ditch the minivan)

I guess for Ford it doesnt matter who picks this truck (wife or husband) as long as one of them does and it results in a sale.

I've got Hankooks on my truck. If you stomp it, it will lay some decent rubber even without a tuner.

Of course you need the 5.4 to do it.

Two words: Rolling burnout.

Probably a byproduct of the finicky stock throttle-by-wire in my '04 standard cab, but I got completely fed up with a lady in a Jetta slowing down, signaling left, deciding against it and moving to the next side road... Third time she did it was where the road jumped out to 4 lanes. I hammered it around 15mph and peeled out all the way around her car as she 'decided' to move to yet another 'left turn'. One of my buddies who drives a Tacoma was riding with me and was thoroughly impressed.

Gotta look into getting that throttle-by-wire looked at. I heard you can take it to the dealer and mention laggy response and there's supposed to be something they can do about it... Anybody got better intel?

I brought it too the dealer and said it was laggy. told them there was a tsb out for that....service invoice said the they "reprogrammed" the pcm, but there is no new code sticker over my old sticker so i dont know if thye did anything. Maybe a ford tech can tell me if there is a difference between reprogramming and reflashing? anyways.....i think the truck might drive a bit differnt but it is hard to tell....

I wish the GT had the L running gear....to be honest I cant think of a single thing the L and a GT Mustang have in common.

Well my Scab only has the 4.6 in it and we only just turned 400 miles on it. I will say one thing though. We have received more compliments on it from those driving Chevys, Dodges and other then we have had from Ford drivers. Most of the folks driving Fords love their trucks and most where 03 or older. Today my salesman called me to tell me I had a 100 dollar check in the mail. I asked him why and because I had told someone to go check out the new 05s and drive one they purchased a Lariat 4x4 Screw. I'm 42 so I'm way past getting into a race with anyone. I do plan on mods but most will be external such as a grill guard bug deflector etc. I do know one thing. FORDS RULE!
