Rear Differencial Question
You guys out there that know about the problems that are going on. I just had my clutch packs replaced and I am almost out of warranty. (4,000 Miles Left) I spoke to a friend of mine that specializes in 4x4 differencial rebuilding. He says that alot of the problems come down to basically one thing. The synthetic oil that they use in the differencials makes it too hot and is tearing them up.
My question is that since they just replaced the clutch packs is the warranty going to be longer than the 36,000?
If so if I change the fluid to what my friend recommends will they not fix it because the fluid is not the synthetic?

When a repair is made toward the end of the basic 36/36 warranty. The repair is warrantied under Fords parts warranty, which I'm pretty sure is 90 days. So if the truck goes over 36/36 and is under the parts warranty, it is covered till the parts warranty expires.
Not real sure on the length of the parts repair warranty. Use to be 90 days, may still be, but I'm not sure. The dealership can tell you that.
Also, if you change the fluid to other then the recomended Ford synthetic fluid they, Ford, could sure find a way to void their responsibility.

Differential problems can usually be traced to inferior parts or incorrect setup. The Ford synthetic differential oil is good stuff.
Most dealers go 12 months/12,000 miles after the repair for parts/labor warranty, but this varies.

if your dealer performed the TSB correctly the fluid then put back in should have been different then what came from the factory. as well as new friction modifier, if they didn't then yes you will hav2e problems again, the way you can tell is there should be a shiny new diff tag on your diff it should read 75 140 synth
