The computer screen will be the motorized touch screen display, I Will not use the computer screen that comes with the PC, unless I decide to put it in a headrest.

I wonder how much it'd cost minus the screen?

I can get a mobile PC for anywhere between $400-$1000. A mini-itx PC is the best way to go, and a fanless PC would make no noise. The total system should run no more than $2000, and will beat the pants off any proprietary system (ie: kenwood). Check out this site http://www.logicsupply.com/

New motherboard coming out later this year:

With an external HD and DVD-R, you could have a PC the size of a coke can!

I have been pondering the same question about in-dash DVD/CD/Navigation, and am considering the same two HU's:

Kenwood system

--OR--

Pioneer

One question that hasn't been answered fo rme is this: Can the Kenwood system handle AV input and a rear video camera? The specs on the Pioneer say it can...

The Kenwood DDX-7015 has one video input (rear camera or otherwise.) If you put a video switch in front of it I suppose you could have as many inputs as you want.

What do you all think of the Alpine IVA-D300? I can get one locally and installed for $1499.

I was thinking of waiting for the IVA-310 to come out, but they say there isn't that much difference. Plus, it's not to come out for at least another month.

Anyone have the IVA-D300? What's your opinion of the unit?

I just want a good 7" unit. I'm also considering the Kenwood 715 or 815.

myst...that's how I read it too...the Pioneer has an AV input and a rearview camera input...I think it's worth thinking about before I buy one!

Greeny..the two units being discussed are DVD/navigation units, whereas the Alpine you referenced is only a DVD unit.

Zamboni,

Yea, I'm aware they are only DVD units, but you can add navigation as well.

Do you still have any input on the IVA-D300

According to the specs, the Alpine IVA-D300 has the following:

» audio/video inputs
» navigation input
» rear camera input

Hope that helps...

If your looking for the best quality screen the Alpine D-901 is where its at!

The thing is light years ahead of any other screen out there right now.

Bringing an old thread back from the dead!

I'll finally be getting the money soon that I've been needing.

Im looking for a DVD headunit, heres the things Im looking for double din headunit, play while driving, I-Pod compatible, rear camera input. If you have any websites that are cheap but reliable, post them up. Can anyone suggest what I should get or give me their opinions on these following units Im looking at, or if you have one in mind that'd work!

I really like the price on this one and the fact that it has navigation but if I can't play it while driving its a no go.

Pioneer AVIC-D1

Kenwood eXcelon DDX-7015

you are aware that the pioneer doesn't play dvd video right? It has a DVD for navigation purposes only, at least that is what i remember reading.

I wasn't aware of that. So I guess that only leaves me with one option really.

Does anyone know if Kenwood makes a kit for the I-Pod?
