Service Engine Light

Hey guys, I fired up the truck yesterday and it beeped and showed "Failsafe Mode" on the console. It went away, but then i started it up again this morning got the same message, and the Service Engine Light is not turning off nor is it blinking. The manual says that if it blinks, than there is a sensor messing up in the cat. There is no issues driving it, it still drives the same and everything. I called the service department and they told me that I should bring it in, and that there is something probably wrong with a sensor. I am nervous that they are going to find something and blame it on my dual exhaust.... What do you guys think?

I doubt they will look at your exhaust - my dealer installed my dual exhaust!

Disconnect the battery for a few minutes and it will clear the code. Might have been just a glitch in the PCM. If there really is a problem it will reset the code again. Another thing you could try is go to a local Auto Zone and let them read the code for you then look it up to see what it means.

I doubt Autozone has CAN network capable scan tools.

More than likely, you've got a fault in the electronic throttle control system. Sounds like a trip to your friendly neighborhood stealership is in order.
