Hey guys

Well I've been lurking a bit for the past week or so. I just wanted to hop on here and say hi.

I recently traded in my 02 Chevy for an 05 scab FX4. I actually loved my old truck but our local dealer is horrible and after having to deal with them the past year, I figured the aggrivation wasn't worth it. (At one point I had a transmission issue and was without a truck for over a month with no loaner.) At least our Ford dealer/shop is a nice place full of nice people.

Anyway, I do have pics but it's just your basic Black/slate two tone FX4.

A couple of things I like about the ford compared to my old chevy.

Room, holy crap is this thing roomy!

Looks, man I used to hate the old body style F150's, but wow I absolutely think the new body style is gorgeous, where as the 03 and up Chevy's look like crap. lol

I have the switch for 4wd, man I cant imagine going back to a floor shifter again.

The only thing I think the last truck had that was nice that I wish I had on this on is the electric dimming rear view mirror. Other than that I'm perfectly happy.

I've already installed Sirius via a plug and play unit, I plan on adding tube steps this month, as well as a deflector and rain vents/visor vents (whatever you call them.) When it warms up a bit, I plan on getting a bed liner sprayed in.

Anyway thought I would go ahead and introduce myself.

Welcome AK Jay!! It's nice to see someone else from Alaska, whereabouts are you? I'm up here in Fairbanks riding around in an 03 F150 Heritage Edition. It's killing me seeing the new 04's and 05's running around, I want one so bad, but the wife says no, she likes the 03 to much and we need to save the money.

You mentioned you installed Sirius. I didn't think satellite radio was offered up here? I know XM is offered up here but not for automobiles, only places out in the booneys (not quite sure what they are talking about).

This is the best truck forum you'll find anywhere. The people here are nice, and VERY knowledgeable. You can find an answer to just about any question. If it has been asked, I am sure you can find an answer by using the search option.

I once got some help on my vegtable garden in the General Discussion Forum.

This place ROCKS.

Well as for the search function, I've already used it a few times. I can also see from a few posts you folks are a bit sensitive about the same questions being asked day after day with no search made. lol

Pics can be found here New trucks

Yes the wife has the bigger truck, but that's for a good reason.

jdpollen: I live in Juneau, and our local Radio Shack has been offering Sirius radio. It actually works fairly well, I get maybe 2 or 3 signal drops a day, not too shabby. It sure beats the 2 whole stations we have locally. I used to have a custom stereo in my last truck with a 6 disc changer so I would listen only to CDs. Unfortunately with buying 2 new rigs I can't really afford to replace the stereos in both the trucks. (Cant imagine why... lol) I can however afford a couple of Plug and Play units and the 18 bucks a month Sirius costs. The local dealer even let my borrow a unit to try for the day to make sure I liked the service. While they will offer the service, they do make you sign a paper stating that they cannot guarantee the service.

Why wouldn't your FX4 not have a dimming rear view?
It is standard in an FX4.... mine has it. Did they drop that standard option for 05?
