Charge to update PCM???????

Booked my truck in for it's first oil change Thursday and asked about getting the PCM updated. Service rep said there could be updates available but they charge $45 to do any updates to the control module.

Does this sound reasonable?

I've never heard of that. But then again I usually go in with a complaint and they do it under warrantly. Just say your truck is lagging and does't shift right and they'll do it under warranty.

heck no, it should be free under warranty. Instead, tell them you have the throttle lag and erratic engine idle and tell them to check TSB # 04-21-14, which they do a PCM reflash if you have those symptoms.

if you request it and don't have any drivability concerns then no ford isn't going to pay for it. but if you come in with a specific complaint then yes it will be covered under warranty.

Mac.

Call Troyer Performance, and for three or four hundred bucks, they will put some real flash in your PCM ...Kevin
