Brought home my new truck, nothing speacial. 05 F150 Bright Red SuperCab STX 4x4.

First thing I notice is the drone from the exhaust when going up a hill when I left the dealership. It downshifted to make the slight climb then I hear the drone as it hovered just in second gear as I got up to speed. Im guessing the trans will break in and it wont sit at such a high rpm. no big deal, im sure it will settle down.

Second, I hope it was just the dealer giving it a wash job befor I took delivery, but later on that night, i put the key in the drivers door and it wouldnt turn. So either it got water in the key cylnder and it froze up or I have a bad tumbler, it worked this morning after a few turns, I will see.

Other then that, so far, I love it, gotta get used to sitting up that high and the turning radius. From a 95 Explorer to this this, big change.


Side note: What drop do I use for a hitch receiver? My explorer came out straight, im sure this will drop a little, but I dont know what. I have a snowmobile trailer, a camper and a boat, all at the same hieght for level.

Nothing speacial?? These F150's are the nicest looking truck on the road no matter what trim level you have!! Congratulations on the truck!! You will love it!!!

 

Shoot alittle WD40 on your key then put it in the keyhole that should take care of that problem.

As for the drop on the hitch, it's alll going to depend on what you primarily tow. For a standard trailer like you've described, a simple 1.25" drop should be sufficient.

I have a 6" drop for my 10 foot utility trailer.....works great...the more the drop though the less you can pull...i think mine has a max of 6000#.........

As for the wd40, not in a million years, wd40 freezes a few degrees below water. Ill try a graphite or lithium grease tomarrow when I get to work. I hope it was just water.

Im going to crawl under the truck to check the starter connection, It took 7 tries of the key to get it to start this afternoon.
I hope all I find is a loose connection.

Took some stuff to the recycling place on the other side of town. I must say, I miss the old days of leaning over the bed to get something out. being 5'7" I had to climb the tire.

We are supposed to get snow the next two days, I guess I'll get to try her out in the snow.

I didn't even think of that aspect, being from Calif. we think its freezing when it gets down to 60 deg. F.

Quit yer bitchin, try being 5' 3" and reach into the bed! LOL! I gotta step up on the tire to see in it!

Other than than that? Best damn truck bar none. Enjoy it man. And get that starter issue checked out, way to early to be seeing those kinds of problems. Good luck and enjoy!

If you have problems this soon, let your dealer know ASAP. He should be explaining how sorry he is and getting it fixed right away. No need to take it on yourself. Thats what warrantys are for.
