Don't know if I got flashed????

...so there I was on the balcony at Mardi Gras with a string of $0.35 beads and below was a chick with great rack... just kidding!

Sorry, just figured that was the only way to get anyone to read another PCM reflash thread...

I'll be as quick and painless as I can here...

Took the truck in and hit all the talking points for needing a reflash. Hesitation at take off and throttle lag when passing. Told the service guy that I knew there was a TSB out for reflash to cure it. He said that yeah, 99% of the time it is a reflash.

Got it back, and I don't know if I got one or not??? No sticker anywhere in the engine compartment. Here is what the service report read. Does any of this mean I got a reflash?

EEC (Quick Test) - Diagnosis
Repeat Final Quick Test
Pin Point test - Diagnosis
Relative compression/Power balance - Test
Ignition System - Diagnosis
DCL Display - Test
Recorder/Monitor road test - Diagnosis
PCM Reprogramming - Test

Did they reflash or just run a bunch of tests???

And to answer the obvious question, "Do I notice any changes in driving it?" Yes, I think so. Just didn't know if there was something they could have done other than reflash?

Thanks and sorry for the misleading opening! (I lived in New Orleans for 5 years and have more than my fair share of those type stories)

If there is no new code sticker under the hood and no referance on your work order I would say no on the reflash.I would give them a call Monday morning. What is your D.O.M and your present PCM code.

Are there any labor operations on your paperwork? Things like 12650, 12650DX1, 12650D, etc.

Quintin I also had my computer reflashed without any sticker or paper work. Is there a way to look it up from my computer?

Thanks

Ditto for me on the re-flash an no sticker. The throttle response is much faster than before the reflash. Don't know, but is it that big of a deal if I didn't get a sticker??

It's not really a big deal if you didn't get a sticker unless you are planning to get a tuner for your truck.

Mine was re-flashed about a month after I bought it (10-24-03) because it had a bad #4 coil wire. I didn’t get a sticker either, didn’t know I needed one until I started the “Custom Program Worksheet” that I needed to fill out to get the Xcalibrator. I went back to my dealers service department and asked the service advisor for the PCM code information I needed and to put a sticker under the hood somewhere for me. He said no problem. A service tech rolled a diagnostic machine over to my truck, read the code and put a sticker on the fan shroud. Took a total of about 10 minutes and I was out of there. Here’s a pic of what I got. It doesn’t look like much but it was the information Mike Troyer needed to cross reference to figure out what my new code was.

I'm kinda fuzzy on labor ops, but from what I remember, 12650D and DX1 are EEC testing and retrieving DTCs, and 12650D84 is reprogramming a PCM. Everything else in between was for what you said, ignition test, power balance, time to roadtest and verify repairs, etc. And the authorized modification sticker is a federal requirement, anytime that an emissions related component is altered, the decal has to be installed.

Hm...maybe your dealer hasn't filed the claim yet, but there's no indications of any PCM updates in your repair history. The rear glass was repaired for a rattle at 3960 miles on 16 Feb 05 per TSB 04-20-03, that's the only repair shown in the history.

Where can I go to get my VIN checked to see whats been done to my truck?

I think it can be done on here? I'm trying to find a web page I can go to that all I have to do is type my VIN number in and see exactly what has been done to my truck so far.

Can anyone help me with this?

I don't mean to change the subject at all, but it would be cool if I could get that page you get your information on

You can register at Ford's owner website and it will show your repair history as well as let you add your own repairs to the log. Go here to sign up: Ford Owner site. It's pretty handy.
