There are quite a few around here in MD and N. Va. I wouldn't be surprised if you have to wait for the weekend as it is supposed to stay cold. Hope you have a garage or someplace warm to work in.
Good luck. If you have any questions you think I may be able to help with, shoot me an email, or ask on the board. You can always get an answer here.

Around Bethesda, not likely. I really don'y know of any places to offroad, however some of the "roads" up in the Frederick City watershed near Gambrill State Park are interesting. Some paved, some not. Thru streams. Up and down. And it's nice to be out in the woods, although it is gettting built up. Other than that, I do not know of any places. You might try in the mid-atlantic forum. Someone there may have more info than I do.

Cool, I actually live up from Bethesda, Just goin' to school there. Got some schoolmates that live up in Frederick. I'm headed up there in mid-march for a conference. May just have to scope it out ahead of time.

Thanx!

zoo crew, if ya didn't install already, check for a left and a right side bar. My Westin's ('04 Screw) were different and directions made no mention of this. If installed on opposite sides, step pads do not line up properly.

I'll have to keep that in mind. I was hoping for a giant L and R on them!!!!! Got all the bolts & brackets laid out & ready. Either gotta move the stang outta the garage, or wait til the weekend. More than likely it'll be this w/e.
Thanx

They are a snap to put on. This was the first thing I added to my truck. I'm not the most mechanical person either but they were a breeze. Then I tackled the bull bar. Good luck with both. You will do just fine, you will see.

I'm itching to get them on! But it's cold, too much crap in the garage, and too much work.
It WILL be this weekend. My bull bar came today too!

So is the bull bar harder to install than the nerf bars?

It will be easier for you with the 4x4 then it was with me and my 4x2. Cutting was needed to install mine. None will be needed with yours, but you will lose your tow hooks unless you can find a very strong , longer bolt.

For now, I can stand to lose the tow hooks. Maybe by summer I can find a way to keep them.
Right now the garage is filling with stuff to do.
The nerf bars
The bull bar
Lights for the bull bar--nothing fancy a set of hella's.
The bug shield, finally back from paint shop
Vent visors
seat cover for the back
and those damn extreme catch all floor mats. It's so cold, they look and fit crappy. Not amused at all!

Sure hope it warms up for the w/e.

JIC, bolt size is 12mm x 1.75 . Home Depot has them up to 80mm(3") I believe the stock size is 2".

Make sure they are grade 8 bolts. Otherwise you may be eating that towhook if the bolts break.

Actually I don't belive they are. I'm not so sure the stock ones were either(no typical "hash marks"). How would ya tell other than the markings? Is grade 8 really necessary? I know they can take greater torque, but does that give them better shear strength? Wouldn't it make them brittle that way?
I'm seriously asking, I really don't know for sure. I used those bolts on mine.

It definitely makes a difference. Especially that now you are requiring it to support a greater length with greater leverage. As far as markings, I am not sure what they have on mine. I have a Waag center guard, which allows me to keep the tow hooks using the original bolts. Unfortunately it is a bit too cold to look and see if there are any specific markings.
Edit: Found this site on markings. If metric, it may not have the slashes.
