This past weekend I had my truck burried up to the frame in snow. The rims all had snow packed in them and the undercarrage was full of snow. Being lazy, I just left it there. While loading the truck up, I noticed the snow in the rims had melted and froze. There was ice built up in each of the rims/wheels. I have the 17" chrome claded rims that trap the water/snow in them. I noticed the steering wheel shake for a few miles until the ice/snow worked its way out of the wheels and where ever else it was. The truck is back to its normal ride again.

Ive also had the severe vibration problem as well.

2004 F150 FX4 with 22,000kms. It started vibrating about a month ago. Just like the others have said everything shakes, pedals, wheel, headrest, mirror....etc. It gets very bad at highway speeds. I dont live in a super cold area (vancouver, BC) and I havent noticed it acting up after cold nights with the E-brake on.

It in the shop as I write this but we were unable to get the vibration during the road test....(go figure!)

Also my right front brake is very squeaky when coming to a full stop. The vibration feels like a warped rim or an un-balanced drive shaft.....very severe.

One time, I forgot to release the emergency brake on my Supercrew. The whole truck began to vibrate/wobble at about 30-40MPH. I released the brake and absolutely no vibration afterwards.

Well its still happening and more.....

The vibration is getting really bad now. Im sending it home with someone from Ford so they can experience what Ive been telling them.

My brakes are squeaking like mad, still lots of life in the pads and they said the rears were wearing quicker then the fronts?? Does that make any sense?

There is also a nasty noise from under the hood, sounds like a loose fan belt but it only makes the noise when accelerating, not coasting or idle?

I will update this when I get it back!

Had my truck in last week with vibration. Mine is definetly after the e-brake is released. Does not matter if it is cold, hot, raining, or snowing. Ford dealer checked everything out and said nothing is wrong. They oiled and cleaned everything up and tried to blame it on dirt around the rear brake mechanism. It vibrated all the way home. I guess the dirt theory is wrong. At least I have it on record so when my brake pads/rotors wear out prematurely, they can replace it for free.

There is a problem here, and I don't believe that it is related to the ebrake.

First, a vibration issue can cover a lot of different subjects, but there are a bunch of us that have the same one. It is very intermittent, occuring in my case only twice in 7,500 miles. It occurs in the 40 - 60 mph range. It is a very strong shaking or vibration, not involving the steering wheel.

Second, both times mine occured were on warm days, above 60F, so snow and ice are out. The last time it occured, because I have been reading this forum, I applied and released the ebrake several times, no effect. If/when it happens again I will pull over and check the disks for heat, but I do not believe that this is an ebrake issue.

The vibration/shaking is very strong, it is not a wheel/balance condition. It is intermittent and goes away after slowing down or stopping. The vibration is not only strong but uniform, last time I could feel the floor vibrating, the whole truck shook, very different than a wheel imbalance.

Because the vibration is so uniform and shakes the floor strongly, I believe that it is originating in the transmission and is being conducted by the trans mount and motor mounts. Because it is so strong and so intermittent I believe that it is a torque converter problem. My hunch is that the torque converter is getting out of balance. This could be a result of air or water getting trapped in the converter.

I have been experiencing the same intermittent serious vibe. It is not speed related, as I have seen it start anywhere from 10-50 MPH, and it doesn't matter if I speed up, stomp on the brakes, or slow down gradually. It has also lasted through a couple of complete stops before dissapating. If it was due to harmonics, I would expect a narrower speed band where the vibe is felt.

It has occurred when it is below freezing as well as just recently when it was in the 70's, so I doubt it is temperature related.

I have been parking on the street to avoid setting the e-brake, thinking this may have something to do with it, but it still occurs even though I haven't used the e-brake in days.

I did not have this problem until the clutch pack was replaced at 3000 miles to address the start-from-stop shimmy problem noted with the limited slip differential. It may be just a coincidence as I only have 5000 miles on the truck, but I was wondering if anyone else who is experiencing the vibe has had their clutch packs replaced.

Thanks.

Has anyone with the intermittent vibe had their clutch-packs replaced to address the shudder on start from a stop with the wheels turned? Just wondering if there could be a connection.

Thanks!

I wonder if this can be attributed solely to the 2004 M/Y trucks. Everyone who posted in this thread before me has a 2004, according to their profile. Perhaps a first year bug? I havent really noticed ANY shaking in mine at all and I use the p-brake probably 200 times a month. Either way, good luck getting this all worked out.
