what do you mean tire whine? What does it sound like? Could it be the power steering belt?

Are you on stock tires & rims? Any lift?

probably talking about a whine from his power steering pump...

See if any of this helps you:

2004-05 f150 search for "power steering pump"

Edit--also, if you are turning hard over (steering wheel turned to the limit) your pump will be maxing out and make all kinds of strange noises. This is normal (and should be avoided). If it's whining very loudly when you're not hard over, then it's time for a trip to the dealer.

everything is still stock on the truck so the noise isnt due to any mods. I hear the noise when i make tight turns such as pulling into a parking space or making a left hand turn at an intersection. It makes it during right hand turns also. I could be wrong but it sounds like its coming from back of the truck too. I originally just thought it was the tires and no big deal because my buddy has an explorer that has been leveled and his tires do the same thing because of the suspension change. However, I swear I saw a thread on here about a rearend problem that was causing this. The local dealer here has an inventory of about 20 cars and I cant even get them to order the right parts so im scared to take it to them w/o knowing what the problem is.

a whining gear set is not going to do it in those situations. get someone to drive your truck while you stand outside listening for it. you'll most likely find It's coming from your power steering pump.
