No more vibrations!
I have done lots of forums reading on the vibration, as my 04 F150 SCAB has had a vibration in the steering wheel. Thanks to all the terrific info posted the forums, and thanks to a very helpful dealership service dept, I now have a vibe-free truck!
My vibration was mostly in the steering wheel and happened at 40-55 mph, and was torque sensitive. It was more noticeable under acceleration at those speeds, and just about went away if you threw the truck in neutral at those speeds.
It was not a left-to-right motion of the steering wheel, but rather a back and forth (front-to-rear) vibration or chatter that could be felt quite strongly with your hand on the steering wheel.
The thing that fixed it was a new ring and pinion in the rear end.
Thanks again to all who posted excellent and helpful info on this topic.

Man what timing, no sooner than you posted your fix than I posted a similar question. Can I ask - did you ever notice a rear-end drone that accompanyed that shake? That tends to also be an indicator of bad/incorrectly installed ring&pinion, and I'm having those symptoms, except that my drone is more noticable than the shake at this point and time.
Thanks for the follow-up - you wouldn't believe how many threads via search are never followed up on
