Mathman, - I agree with you, I have had Porterfields on for 5,600 miles so far and NO noise, squeaking, or brake dust. Love them.

The dealer replaced them with factory rotors...I paid for the pads and the dealer paid for the rotors and installation.

^^^ Told ya you would like them mathman. Remember when you were all nervous about installing them? Mine have been on for about 5k miles now also and the feel just gets better..they must be seating in or something. It sure is nice to go all week and the wheels are still clean. (not that I would go a week between washings Rock...honest!)

brake rotor inquiry

Wondering if anybody can send most current TSB for brake rotors. I've noticed on my front rotors has deep groves. No brake shuddering though. Just want to read TSB to see if i have an issue to take care of. Truck built Jul 04. Please send to: jetmechsig@yahoo.com

Keep on trucking
Thanks,

I just got the TSB and the brakes are much better. The only complaint I have, is the brake pedal is a little mushy, but that's o.k.

I had to take my truck into the dealership 4 times to fix the squeaky brakes at low speeds. The first excuse I got was that squeaking was common with metallic brakes. Unhappy with that reason I returned the truck the same day. The service manager said that was normal with these trucks. I told them that the did not squeak when it was new, and it was not acceptable now. He turned the rotors on that visit. 500 miles later the squeak returned. I brought my truck back, and told them the neighbors were complaining. They test drove my truck and said they could not hear the squeaking . Upon futher investigation they said they would replace the pads and turn the rotors. I had to explain they had just turned the rotors, so turning them again would not be an option. They decided to replace the rotors as well. It has been another 500 miles since then, with no squeaks. It was just difficult to get the dealer to do the right thing. Next time I will go with aftermarket pads and rotors.

I would like a copy of this TSB also. I just started feeling that my rotors were warped. I have never warped the rotors on a vehicle before and I am very careful when I brake. My girlfriend goes through brakes every 6 months because of the way she drives and we cant have two vehicles doing that. I was thinking I screwed up but my truck was built prior to 11/04. Im sure my dealer will try to make me pay for it if I just go in. They are pretty worthless.
