Exhaust question for thoes who have bought aftermarket.

Who has bought eather a true dual setup or 3" single? How much power increase? What rpm did you notice it the most?

I had true duals on my last 02 f150, and I wasn't sure to go duals again with no cats or go with a 3" single.

Mods so far are airaid & xcalibrator.

honestly i dont think that you can expect noticable gains from an exhaust no matter who makes it, i do know that you can lose horsepower caused from lack of back pressure. the only reason ive done this on all my trucks is because it sounds bad a$$!! ive got dynomax single and i love it sounds mean under WOT and it doesnt wake up the neighbors when i come home

I did dynomax duals on my last and it sounded good when I stepped on it, the bottom was same as stock a lil less but the was more on the top for like when passing and stuff. I had 4.56 & 35" tires so you almost noticed every lil thing that changed.

I was just wondering if a 3" would keep the bottom or improve and be the same as a dual on the top. From what I have been told by my exhaust shops here a 3" single flows more 2.5" duals.

I got the Gibson SI/SO with 3" pipe. I'm thinking I got maybe 15hp. Gibson claims this system adds 22HP to the 3V 5.4 but I think 15 is a better estimate. I picked up about 1.5 mpg in the process so I'm not to worried with the power.

With the Banks Monster I used to have, I estimate about 25HP. When I would floor it with that exhaust, you could hear and feel a very significant difference over stock. If you want power, that's the one I would recommend. It had an annoying resonance at cruise and while towing which is why I sold it. I must give credit where its due, that sysytem made some power.

KC-10 FE out...

decrease in back pressure doesnt take away horespower. it adds it but it does take away torque. i have the banks monster exhaust and it sounds great. i notice more power gains in the higher rpms but it took away some torque down low. it didnt make a huge difference but a little noticable. The monster exhaust is 3.5 pipe with a huge tip. looks good. check out my gallery. looks better than that trash dual out the back look. those duals dont look good on the new f150 but it looks good on the old ones

I just had true dual flowmasters put on this weekend. At first I thought I gained some low end power, but then I realized I was just accelerating faster because I loved the sound. I haven't noticed any power gain/loss, but that's not why I got it done, like the previous post, I did it for the sound. It may also improve mileage, but I haven't had it long enough to find out.

Hey BG4x4

I installed a FM SI/SO ast week and haven't really noticed much in additional power. Maybe just a squeeze on the low end but nothing earth shattering.
I also installed an Airaid at the same time.
I paid attention to my computer averaged gas mileage on a short trip yesterday and on the highway it was bouncing around 17mph at a steady 70mph. I've only got 500 miles on the truck so far but the mpg is looking promising and is a ittle better than I had hoped from reading other posts on the subject.
As soon as I hit the 2000 mile mark I'll be doing and oill/filter change and replacing withthe oil with royal purple and a K&N oil filter. I'll begin posting mpg average figures at that time.

500miles, you wont notice anything your engine is still breaking in...

i waited till my first oil change before modding, at least let your engine break in before mods 1500mi ?

Magnaflow SI/DO doesnt lose HP or Torque under 3K RPM..
Its 3" single in and 2.5 (dual) exit.
I have it on my truck and its awesome..

You can read the info about magnaflow on troyerperformance.com...

Good luck!
YOMAN!

Installed the Gibson Supertuck on my truck this past weekend.... Modded it a little and cut the pipes back. They stuck out too far to my taste. The upper lip of the square tips stick out about 1 inch from the metal of the truck.

As for power increase, I guess I was expecting my low end to increase.... Not so.... Just like BumpersFX4... I thought I was gaining Low end power...only to realize that I was giving it more gas off the line to hear the rumble. I LOVE the sound though... I absolutely love it. It's got a nice rumble, and sounds amazing at WOT.

The power increase can be found going around 40-55 MPH and pressing the peddle down about halfway to kick it into the lower gear. It's amazing... I can definately tell a difference. I'm installing the Xcalibrator and Air Force One next week... as soon as it gets here from Troyer Performance (As of yesterday afternoon, I was 5th in line!!!) So I'm hoping to see an even better increase in my low end, as well as my high end.

I've got the Flowmaster Super 40's. Put 3" from cat to Muffler, 2.5" from muffler back. 4" ss tips. First thing I noticed was that I had to take the battery cable off and let the truck "re-learn" the idle points etc.. (can be found in the manual on how to do this).

The truck sounds awesome. Not to much of a drone.
I didn't notice much difference on performance but I did notice the miles per gallon went down. Probably cause of my lead foot, I enjoy hearing my truck.
