uncomfortable seats
I have a 2004 screw FX4 that I enjoy quite a bit, EXCEPT for the shape of the drivers seat. To me it seems to be very uncomfortable in the seat bottom, like it is crowned front to rear, not side to side like a true bucket seat would be.
I am trying to find either a replacement seat bottom ( factory grey cloth) or a good upholesterer....

Its a matter of getting used to.
I agree though, the seats in the 01 we have are better.
Even after 20,000 miles on the D. Shd truck its still weird. I drove the blue on to Georiga though and they were ok on the ride down.

These new seats dont seem to "hug" a body quite as much as most buckets seats do which is what people are used to. They are much more firm as well. When i first started driving the truck they felt almost like a bench seat. However, After a long drive I soon found out that thier firmness and design keeps you from getting sore when you have been sitting in them for hours on end. Its a bit of a trade off but personally I think it is worth it.
All I can say is take a 500-1000 mile trip and you will find out for sure if you love them. I definitely do. I have owned many ford trucks and by far these are the best long road trip seats I have ever owned. Just my 2 Cents

uncomfortable seats
Well, I have a lower back problem and I get pretty picky about how the seats are. When I bought the truck, my dealer had contacted one of the area upholsters' and he thought he could re-do the seat for me. Upon further investigation, he has backed off on that statement
My salesman continues to look for an area shop that will work on the problem.
I have taken a couple of 400 mile trips and I will admit that my back was fine, but I don't think I sat still for more than 3 minutes! I kept shifting around trying to get comfortable, so maybe that's the answer. Anyway, any suggestions on an aftermarket company?

I find the seats to be just fine, although I agree that they aren't as good as the my 01 was, but those where so comfortable that I could easily fall asleep at the wheel. The new ones are comfortable and are a great on long trips too, I have always been comfortable.
JTFORD,
I agree, I test drove the Dodge prior to buying my F150 and really thought it was MUCH more comfortable. But, the "back seat" is a joke, still just an extended cab with a bigger door. My 10 yr old loves the back seat of our Ford!

I think the seats are just a matter of getting used to. I hated my seats when I first got my truck. Now when I get in the truck I hardly notice how uncomfortable they really are. Once I get bored on a long hual or in heavy traffic is when it gets uncomfortable.
I agree the seats are not very good in my 2004 stx. I don't think they were good in my 2001 Lightning or 2002 excursion either.
The leather seats in my '99 gmc sierra slt were were some of the most comfortable seats I have sat in in a vehicle, but the quality of that thing
