Raced a GMC the other day

My buddy and I decided we were gonna go out to some back roads and race.

He has a 2004 GMC Sierra 5.3 ltr, 4x4 extended cab. Straight pipes, and K&N Dropin filter.

I have 5.4 Lt, regular cab.. I have SuperChips Tuner 93 Octane tune, and a Flowmaster muffler.

We both knew I would win before we even started.

My girlfriend was the flag girl...she dropped her hands, and we were off.

I grabbed the holeshot, but he was right at my blindspot untill about 50-60 MPH, then I pulled away ALOT. We raced a quarter mile according to the white lines painted on the road to mark it, and I won by quite a few truck lengths.

I'm not ******* his truck, or any chevy/GMC for that matter. I love his truck, rides great and handles great..... But I like mine better (and it's faster).

Keith

Does this stuff only happen south of Mason-Dixen line?

Cause I (thankfully) have never seen full-size trucks racing in New England.

A kill is a kill. Doesn't matter if its fast cars, trucks or a Vespa!

Although I can't say I've seen two vespa's dragging the quarter mile here in Arizona..... It would still be a great race....

I hope not. You might be reading a story about a truck race, Teddy Kennedy, a young lady and some water...

Sometimes it's hard to find time to squeeze in truck racin', what with all the klan rallys and banjo pickin' we gotta keep up with.

We have what is called club racing at our local drag strip. It is a six race series similar to a bowling league. There are four classes based on et and driver experience and it is all bracket racing . Each member of a team gets 10 points per round win. There are a ton of trucks and SUVs running; for some it is their only vehicle and others use them as a back up when their other vehicle(s) are down.

With bracket racing anything can win plus it is 100% legal. I ended up being runner up once when I ran my Tahoe as the race car was down. I will definitely run the F150 at least once this year just to see what it will do.

Most importantly, why would anyone race a full size truck? BECAUSE WE CAN!!

We go over to the old deserted airport for the truck racin'.

Its a saturday, nothing to do.. why not go out and joy ride on back roads... Have fun man!

I guess people North of the Mason-Dixie Line dont know what having a little fun is.

If we both had small compact cars and did the same thing, would that make more sense to you?

Run what ya brung!

Don't laugh...

Back when I had my Lightning, I used to go to an 1/8 mile track west of Houston. You'd obvoiusly see everything there, but there was one guy who used to always crack me up. He'd bring his ~1993 Chevy extended cab work truck to the track every Friday night - it literally had the compay's stickers on the sides.

He'd always get flagged for stupid stuff - beer cans blowing out of the bed halfway down the track, paper flying out, etc. One day, I was in the lanes behind him - when the lights dropped and he took off, a bunch of WHITE PAINT poured out from between the bottom of his taligate and bed! The moron had a big can of paint in the back that spilled when he nailed it - puddles of paint all over the first 60 feet, and drips all the way down the track. It probably took the track crew over an hour to get it all cleaned up.

Being the next truck in his lane, I took it VERY easy all the way down the track. I'm sure there's still some guy in a big 4X4 Suburban bragging to all his Busch Light drinking friends about how he beat a Lightning in full race trim.

You must be implyng that there just aren't any trucks around to race in New England. Here in CT you can't race trucks unless you're into racing F-250's with a snow plow and a bed full of dirt, or a BMW X5 SUV. I'm sure I'll get my chance when Honda releases the Ridgeline - sure kill.

Or maybe Ted Kennedy, John Kerry, Hillary Clinton, Joe Lieberman - types don't support truck racing

But again, it is strange to see D. Waltrip pimping Toyota's in Owensboro, KY.

Nothing wrong with racing full size trucks. you buy a truck because you want it and you can do what you please with your trucks. I think it is awesome to see a full size F150s run fast times.
