People always ask me that...why do you race a full size truck?

I just say Lightning, Silverado SS, SRT-10????

They normally say, "Well, yeah, you got a point"

Anyway, I know my truck will get it. When you stomp a HEMI, hang with a Mustang GT and pull on most any import, then pull into Lowes and pick up some plywood for the weekend project.....I say it's a good idea.

Soon, I'll be taking some Lightnings and new Stang GT's on a run for their money....without BOOST.

Cause I (thankfully) have never seen full-size trucks racing in New England.
I suppose us southerners just don’t know any better, not enough schooling maybe.

I really don't see the difference between the two actually. Except that I would normally assume fullsize truck owners would be more mature.

But hey, whatever makes you guys happy. Maybe we can all meet up sometime and have some grits and then race.

Meeting up and racing Fast and Furious style seems silly to me, but racin friends for grins is fun to me. None of us have fast vehicles really, it's just something to do. Then again, I'm just a lil' Texas Boy, what do I know?

The thing that annoys me is when I see people going 140 mph on the highway. Well, mostly because when they pass me in the next lane it scares the **** out of me and now I have to clean my seats...uhhhgen!

I think my problem with it is not racing friends, but with the people that pull up on someone at a light, floor it, and then brag that they "killed" another car/truck that in all likely hood was not trying; which is seemingly the case in 95% of the "kill threads".

Well of course. How else do you think Ford truck drivers were able to score so many kills against Vespas and Hyundais?

This wasnt a "kill" thread. I was simply saying that my bored friend and I decided we would head out to a back road and race our trucks.... Just for *****s and giggles... Nothing more, nothing less....... I did win though.

No, I dont race people at stoplights. I dont race around town..

Its all in fun. If becoming "mature" means I cant have fun anymore, I don't guess I will ever be "mature".

He'd bring his ~1993 Chevy extended cab work truck to the track every Friday night - it literally had the compay's stickers on the sides.

He'd always get flagged for stupid stuff - beer cans blowing out of the bed halfway down the track, paper flying out, etc. One day, I was in the lanes behind him - when the lights dropped and he took off, a bunch of WHITE PAINT poured out from between the bottom of his taligate and bed! The moron had a big can of paint in the back that spilled when he nailed it - puddles of paint all over the first 60 feet, and drips all the way down the track. It probably took the track crew over an hour to get it all cleaned up.

Being the next truck in his lane, I took it VERY easy all the way down the track. I'm sure there's still some guy in a big 4X4 Suburban bragging to all his Busch Light drinking friends about how he beat a Lightning in full race trim.

I think that guy used to work for me!!!!!

Damn. I knew that truck was getting torn up.

In La. where I grew up, all my friends had trucks. Most of which were our Dad's. We ran agaisnt each other. My Chevy (350) would always get beat by my best friends F-150 (351). We both had a 3 on the tree. My friend would wind his Ford out, it's a wonder it didnt blow up. I didnt want to tear my Dad's motor to peices so I always lost. We also played in the Mud. Thats how I learned the fundementals of driving, stopping, skidding, sliding etc. Everything was done in the counrty on dirt roads, some paved. I'm glad I grew up in the Deep South. Oh-yeah, we also raced boats, cars, bicycles, motorcycles, lawnmowers, foot, 3-legged, and even eating on occasions.
Now that I'm Mature (not really), me and my friends in SC race windsurfers accorss the lake. Scootin across the waves 30 mph, strapped in, butt dragging the water, hanging on for dear life. It's a real adrenaline rush. Naa, I'll never grow up... Thats for all the people North of the Mason Dixon Line.

P.S. My Dad (70 yrs young) just bought his 3rd Motorcycle, a dirt bike, which he sometimes jumps a little ramp with his Grandkids.

I race the guys in my 4x4 club with my jeep to see who can go the slowest. 4.88 gears, 4:1 t-case and a 5speed, the F150 would kick my a$$.

Net Wurker, you outta know the education is not as good as up North. We're too busy picking bandjo's and going to Klan rallies. It sounds like you dont like it here. I bet you dont like Bear Bryant either. Maybe you would be happier in Boston snuggled up to John Kerry
