New 2005 F-150 STX

OK I was out looking at the New 2005 F-150's The one I like is 4x4 STX, short 144" wheelbase, with the 4.6, auto, air, cd, the sticker price is $27.300. I currently own a 2003 F-150 4x4 XL Reg Cab, short bed, 4.2 engine, stick, with air, cd, chrome wheels. I owe $10,038 on a 60 month loan at $239 a month. Ouestion: What kind of deal will I get if I trade in my old truck for the new STX? What rebates and how much could I get the dealer down on price, and what could I get on a trade in? Im willing to go 60 months all over again, but it would be hard for me to afford more than a $239 a month. I was thinking maybe I could get $18K on my old truck, and get the price down on the new truck to about $21K, thats only $3000 difference, and I already paid over $4000 on my current loan, so maybe that may work out. What discounts could I ask for when I go to the Dealer?

Okay heres the skinney. The 05 STX ya should be able to get for 23000.00 after Rebates and haggling. So then you are left with your trade in which on KBB is only worth around 10,000.00. So unless ya have some money to put down then no way yagoing to get a payment of 230-250 . Sorry to give you the bad news but a new Full size truck with a payment of 250.00 is very hard to accomplish.

2005STX

the STX is the best value, its only $1000 more than the stripped down XL. I went to 3 Ford Dealers every STX, std cab had the 4.6 engine, with auto, I guess they don't make it in a stick anymore? The STX looks better with the all one color paint on the bumpers and the chrome wheels. OK I can get the price down to $23K, and my old truck is worth $10K, that leaves me with $13K to finance, with a 5.5% rate at 60 months I should get that for under $300 a month? Thank You for ur help.

You're forgetting that you said you still owe $10k on the '03, so you'll be financing $23k for the new STX if the stealership decides to value the '03 at $10k. That would put your payments at $439.33 before tax for 60 months.

You're upside down since you still owe 10k on your current truck
so I really don't think the low payment thing is do-able unless you got some $ to go with the deal .... Good luck ....

Got A Price

OK I got a price from one dealer the best price he gave me was $1000 off a $27,300 sticker price, plus a $2000 rebate with a 5.5% rate, hes going to give me $12,000 on my old truck where I owe $10,000 on it, plus i can put $3000 down and my payments will be $376 per month.for 60 months. I need to get down closer to $300 a month and i'll buy it. Question? is that a good deal? think I could do better? Ford has a 3.9% rate, but you have to give up the $2000 rebate for it. Keep the rebate, with the 5.5% rate is a better deal and got my payment $20 lower. Thanks for the help, its greatly appeciated. I love the black STX, he said black is the most popular color.

You may want to pop over to http://www.ford-trucks.com/forums and ask there in the "New Ford/Lincoln/Mercury Buyer" forum. One of the posters is a Ford salesman and he can give you an idea how reasonable that deal is and if the dealer is trying to smooth-talk you.

Regardless, that sounds like a nice truck. I hope you can get a deal that works for you.

MotoF150,

Just for your information, I bought a 05 STX in november and paid 18,500 for it. It has v-8,auto,tilt cruise, 6-disk cd/mp3, power pedals and fog lights, I would try another dealership. Mine is RED, looks real good when clean.

I also purchased my stx in November.
2004, 4x4, 4.6, 3.55 ls, supercab, carpet, tint, rear slider, it only had 13 miles on it before the dealer brought it to me. $21500 plus tax.
The value of your truck isn't going to drop drastically in a few months. I say wait until the end of the year to get a good deal on 2005's or try to get a 2004 now.

I agree either look at an 04 or wait later for an 05. I purchased my 04 xlt 3 weeks ago for 17,500 and its the fully loaded xlt package plus a few extras. It was a demo with 1k on it but still brand new. You might look into finding a demo or a used one with low miles on it. My buddy that ownes a dealership gets in 1-2 trucks a week from people that try and buy something out of their budget just to have a new truck and then they find out they cant afford it

2005 STX

Dear easterisland WOW ! ur truck is nicer than the one im looking at, u have the supercab, and u got it for a great price, the one im looking at is the reg cab, it has rear side window, but no rear seats, its just slightly bigger than a reg cab, the only options are fog lights and slidding rear window. I think by the way the salesman talked is the new trucks are selling good, ur right, it might be better to wait at least untill the car and truck selling season is over to get a better price.

Okay here is what the salesman is really doing.... Hes selling you the truck for 26,300 minus 2000 rebates and in real money only giving you 9000.00 for your truck. I sold vehicles for many a moons and all he is doing is going retail to retail with you in a nutshell. Go back and tell him you will buy if he will give you 14500 on trade. Before you guys think I am crazy, believe me the dealer will not have that much in it at all. Now if you could sell your truck to someone for your payoff then you should be able to buy this truck for around 21500.00 or better easily.....

Dealers Cost on the Truck........ Approx... 23000.00 including holdbacks......
