Wiper adjustment

Some time ago there was a thread to re-index the driver wiper arm by removing the little pin and move it up one notch.

Can somebody just tell me how to get the arm removed before I start tearing things up!

I noticed there is a little lever at the base of the arm - does this play a role in removing the arm?

Thanks again and I apologize for my stupidity in advance!

Frank

If you pull that little lever out away from the arm, the whole arm will lift off of the shaft. Then you can take out the pin and re-index the arm wherever you want it. Really easy to do.

It's to make it so the wiper goes up closer to the piller on the driver's side. If you'll notice, the wiper leaves to much of an unwiped area next to the piller. Sucks in the snow.

put some longer blades on. i went 2 inches over stock. the stock blades suck anyway, just like the stock tires.

Thanks - I will give it a go in the am. Tried this afternoon but that arm did not want to budge but I had it in the "down" position and that might be the reason for not moving!

Finally got it done with new Bosch 22" Micro Edge blades and I must say - what a difference!

No if it will give me a 1 - 2 mpg gain - it would be super!!

Thanks

your truck is still under warranty.

don't start "tearing things up"

Next time you are at the dealer, have them change it under warranty with the claim "improper wiper placement from factory leaves a large blind spot"

Then you get it done for free without having to worry if you are doing it right or wrong.

So you want the dealership to take the wiper off and put it back on in the exact same spot?

Of all the simple things we can do to our rides to make it better.
I used to bitch about the wipers until today.
Its raining here in NJ and I figured today would be better than any other.
I headed out with my trusty leatherman tool and 45 seconds later all is good. Easy fixes like that make you feel dumb sometimes.....Thanks for the info...
