The clutch packs go in the rear end not the tranny...they are for the limited slip. If your truck has a slight "vibration" or shutter" when you pull off first thing in the morning (it goes away after the rear end warms up) then you may need them.

What's causing this problem on a few trucks is the limited slip may be shimmed too tight from the factory. That causes it to shudder slightly when turning from a dead stop.

The new pack Ford has available is shimmed better to allow the diff. to work around turns, but still provide proper LS action.

Mine only seems to shudder first thing in the morning when I make a tight turn. The only other thing I have is the steering wheel "nibble" at 105 to 115 KPH. Should get it looked at one of these days, but I enjoy driving the truck to much to get around to it.

That's weird, I have a BRAND NEW truck and mine does this. I got it Monday and it had 11 miles on it, just came off the truck. Actually every single truck I test drove from Ford did this, I just figured all that weight on the brakes makes it shudder when you let off on a slope.

It is possible they did not put enough friction additive in the fluid when it was built. This would also cause the clutches to "grab" or vibrate.
