Mobil 1 Synthetic 5W20

Sorry if this is old news, but it seems Mobil 1 has come out with a synthetic 5W20. They probably just changed the name of the 0W20 to 5W20, but it's still nice to know.

In other news, they have an extended protection motor oil now that is GUARANTEED for 15,000 miles between drain intervals.

I agree, bet you its the exact same stuff.

When i went to wallyworld this weekend to stock up on Motorcraft 5W20, they had none, and I could not even find the spot on the shelf where it should go. Same story with the 5W30, which I use in the wifes Exploder. Both were great deal at $1.42/qt for semi syn. I hope this is not a permanent change, I have been using Motorcraft since I bought my first screw in 2001.

Wal Mart will not be selling Motorcraft products anymore once their stock runs out.

Do what you want, but I bet you will be at least a quart low by the time you hit 10,000 miles.

Why?

Because greedy wal mart tried to squeeze Ford into lowering their wholesale price again, and Ford would have none of it. Advance Auto carries Motorcraft so no problem there.

Advance Auto Parts has Motorcraft 5W 20 for $2.29 qt. & FL-820S oil filters for $3.65. That's more than Wal-Mart but we're going to have to get used to it.

thanks for the info. I toyed with the idea of using the Mobil 1 5w20, but that Motorcraft has worked so well for me for in the last three trucks and dam the price was sweet at wallyworld. They do still have plenty of FL820S, which is good since both our vehicles use that filter. Funny thing is they still had plenty of 10w40, 10w30 and 15w40 MC on the shelf, but I guess the 5W20 is what most late model Ford product use. Well I guess I will be stocking up on the next trip to the auto part shop.

You do realize that Ford recommends every 5000 miles? The 3000 mile "Jiffy Lube" thing is for dino cars and dino oil. And if you use pure synthetic, 5000 miles is too soon (but I change every 5000 anyway).

Motorcraft 5W 20 and a Motorcraft FL820S oil filter every 3000 is what I recommend

Read the back label on that 15k M1. It states that if your under warrenty you should follow the manufactures recommended maintenance schedule.

Dealer Oil Change

Check my math:

Do it yourself:

7 qts @ $2.29 = $16.03
Filter = 3.65
Total = $19.68

Dealer Oil, Filter $27.00

Net savings DIY $7.32

My dealer changed mine last week and the total bill was $28.00 and they did the work.
